| How does the NL Cadet team fill in the rest of the roster? It looks like they have about 10 total SJC players in the NL high school ranks. Is this a really loose affiliation of players filled in from other clubs, non club players for scrimmages? |
| The NL Cadet team is from all club teams. Some kids are from NL, Hawks, etc... Basically just a showcase team that plays under NL Cadets |
How is that? Seems like SJC lax has fewer holdbacks than Gonzaga, Prep, and Landon. |
| Does anyone know exactly why lax goes with graduating class rather than birth dates like almost every other sport? I know it's never going to change because there's too much money involved, but I've always been curious how it started. |
The goalie is a holdback for HS but plays on age for club with the Hawks. The "carbs" player is the only holdback I know of from the '22 group that's all committed. |
| SJC still going to play tomorrow after school got shut down to covid? |
|
SJC has a loaded 2022 class but not sure what they have in their 2023 and 2024 classes. If there is a season this spring, SJC will give Gonzaga a run for their money, they might even be the favorite on paper.
It’s a bit early to start talking about freshman but a few sources have told me Landons current freshman class is loaded. |
| Yes 2022 SJC class is fantastic and many committed to great colleges already. |
Sorry, but you either misunderstood or were misinformed. Landon's 2023 class is not loaded at all. They had one player compete in the UA All American and Nike National. That's it. Obviously, that doesn't cover everyone, but Landon does not have many top players. In the 2023 age group, Prep has the most players competing on these teams and the most depth in their class (At least 20 students in the 2023 class play lax for DC Dogs, DCE, NL, etc). Gonzaga and Bullis have the second and third most. Even Paul IV has more players on these teams than Landon. |
Sorry I think you might have mis-understood my post. Landon's current freshman class (class of 2024) is extremely talented. I fully agree with your assessment that Landon's 2023 class is very weak. I believe a few kids in this class transferred out after 8th grade an 9th grade when they learned HOF Coach Bodley was retiring from coaching. Given Landon another two years of rebuilding and I'm sure they will be back in the thick of things. Also, while the number of college commits is always a barometer of a teams talent and depth, HS lacrosse really comes down to coaching and schemes. GP every year has always had a record number of D1 verbals in comparison to IAC / WCAC team but they don't have many IAC banners (if any) when Coach Giblin stepped down. They couldnt even make it to the IAC championship game in 2019 when they had an exceptional senior class that year. |
NL cadets 2-4 in the past 2 weekend showcases |
Does fall lacrosse translate to the spring? Didn’t St. John’s lose to Prep last fall and blow their doors off in the spring? |
Actually they lost to Severna Park and everyone else on the planet. Only reason they have success in the spring is because they cheat. |
|
What do you mean SJC cheats?
I saw them play twice last year against Georgetown Prep and Landon. I didn’t see any cheating in either game last March? They dominated Prep after a very slow slow and went neck & neck vs Landon. |
I'm a fan of SJC just because of all the jealousy they bring on haha |
