The NAACP New Bedford Branch requested hiring and firing data on July 2, 2020 and staffing data on July 13 from Heather Emsley, executive director of the New Bedford schools’ Human Capital Services. To date it has not receive a response to this request, the NAACP press statement said.

Not really. FCPS had a stellar reputation before Jefferson HS was converted to TJHSST. Opening TJHSST simply focused all the attention on a single school rather than on an entire school district. That has proved a mixed blessing.

Just as FCPS functioned for many decades without a TJHSST, it surely could do so again. It might strengthen some of the existing neighborhood schools. And if some Asians only live in the area so their kids have a chance to attend a single high school, the county might be better off without residents with such a singular, narrow-minded focus.

If you understand the concept of discrimination, this will be clear. Asians have significant barriers in athletics, arts and theater/film, politics, etc. can you blame them for being narrowly focused on STEM, which is less subjective? Even the, Asians do not get promoted to management positions and simply are the workhorses of our society that many do not appreciate.

Hard work is not crutch, having to overcome discrimination in admissions is not crutch but affirmative action is a crutch and legacy, donor status and connections are crutches.

What? Asians value "teach to the test" and they need to change, to adapt. TJ is not the be all and end all. Why do Asian parents think that TJ is the only answer? That is absolutely ridiculous. You were sold a bad bill of goods if that is why you came here.

TJ as currently structured is absolutely an affirmative action program for UMC test-prepped Asian kids.

Vying and focusing as TJ as a lifeline is distorted, at best. Do right by your kids, give them other opportunities other than TJ.

Which make up a small percentage at TJ and Asians face discrimination in admissions not affirmative action. Affirmative action is reserved only fir the preferred minority group.
