I am a Trump supporter. Some of the "lies" the MSM attributed to him, in my opinion, are mostly braggadocio by a salesman. You can't always take his words literally. However on this latest trade issue, he went too far. He is either lying or ignorant of how trade works. - Who pays the tariff? The importer, aka, American companies pay the tariff. I don't understand why he has to lie about this. - Trade deficit doesn't equate to "ripping us off" by $500 billion dollar. Everyone runs a trade deficit with your local grocery store. But that doesn't mean your grocery store is ripping you off. China buys a lot of US treasuries with the trade surplus. With the reduced trade activities, it will add pressure to the interest rate. |
By making manufacturing more expensive in China, one of those other Asian countries are just going to fill the void. The manufacturing isn't going to come back to America. |
It's a combination of Trump lying and being completely clueless about how tariffs work. |
Liar. Mexico and South America would love to do more trade with us. AND they’d have more jobs AT HOME! You just hate all-things-Trump. You’re pathetic. |
Glad you look at labels before buying any product and never buy a product that carries "Made in China" sticker. |
Morgan Stanley CIO: More tariffs will lead to a US recession

Yeah whatever. Show us the data that manufacturers are substituting Chinese manufacturing for Mexican manufacturing. If you weren't so ignorant, you would know that they're more commonly substituting manufacturing for cheaper countries in Asia. |
Sad that you don’t know how to read, even if it’s your first language. |
? |
Well yeah, higher prices for American consumers, fewer jobs. Only to someone as dumb as Trump would that appear to be a winning policy. |
+1 It's a stupid argument to make that Americans are better off if their imports are coming from Mexico or South America rather than China. The imports are just going to be higher priced... |
Most post WW2 expansions last 6 - 7 years. We are in year 10 and counting and a reset is always good. |
Pretty interesting comment seeing how Trump said that he and Kim Jong Un (huge communist) "fell in love" at their recent summit. |
So you AND Trump are loving them. Got it. |
