That’s ridiculous. Ever heard of the Catholic Church? |
Ever heard of a false equivalency? |
There is a good chance some of those weighing in are trying to protect their child or teammates of their child’s reputations. Which I understand, but it wasn’t just DC United 04s that were impacted. It was also other local DAs that send some players to P2P. It wasn’t just a rumor. Sorry. Wish it was. |
You wouldn’t be so triggered if you didn’t have any skin in this game. |
| This is not what happened. The boys were never told why the were released from DC United. The main incident was where there was bullying between 1 player and 1 victim. The rest were bystanders, not intervening to help their teammate. All these boys just got mixed up in this problem, some were involved and most were bystanders but as leaders of the team they were expected to stand up for their teammate but failed to do so. Rape has nothing to do with this. If you do not know exactly what happened (Which you probably don't), please do not try and spread the wrong story. Please note, the victim also did get punished for intentionally walking into the bathroom while my friend's son (one of the boys who was kicked off) was in the shower, apparently he saw him naked after he fell out the shower trying to slam the door shut. SO if you are wondering, even the bullying "victim" has done things to teammates that they do not appreciate. I think it was seen as more severe than it really was because these players were bigger than the rest. Or maybe a family threatening to sue DC United if these players were not released. |
This explanation isn’t as “sexy” as coming up with crazy gang up stories involving broomsticks in scaring off people from DCU. But thanks for the post and clearing up what was made to be a mountain from a mole hill. |
| This is no where near what I was told. I heard it was as bad (no penetration but almost). I heard that these kids should be in jail. I heard from a very reliable source but definitely not 100% since I wasn't there obviously and neither was my source. I don't believe your story that they were innocent bystanders. I didn't hear that the victim was being inappropriate but I could believe it. |
| Because your 3rd hand unsubstantiated “information” is superior to that of a DCU parent with firsthand knowledge who decided to share here. Got it. |
The PP is misinformed. He does not have "firsthand" knowledge b/c we weren't there. His source is his son, who also wasn't there, but is friends with 1 of the boys kicked off. The boys involved admitted what they did. Ganging up on kids, pinning them down, pulling pants down. Whether there was foreign object penetration, attempted, or not, I don't know because I didn't ask. What I heard was bad enough. Saying they were not told why they were being released is BS. They know exactly why. One of the victims was suspended months later for behavior that had nothing to do with this. Walking into the bathroom while another teammate is taking a shower is nothing. Athletes see each other naked all the time. So what? Physical contact is something else. |
Are you serious? Pulling shorts down? This was standard practice in public school gym class among boys back in the 80s and 90s. 100% soft. |
Well why don't you invite these 4 boys over to house for a sleep over and throw your son in with them. |
Molehill. Not scandal material. The appropriate action was taken given the circumstances. Just admit you were wrong already. |
Under DC law, athletic coaches are considered mandated reporters. https://cfsa.dc.gov/service/report-child-abuse-and-neglect |
I heard similar from DCU parents last weekend. "No penetration, but it was bad" |
For pulling down shorts? |
