you are oddly invested in this for someone who is not a tennis fan. tennis would gain absolutely nothing if men were more harshly penalized. like Serena's coach said it's all a hipocrisy that serves no benefit. tennis court is not a classroom. It's ok to be passionate. |
| The chair ump is there to maintain and restore order. Yesterday he became the story. SAD! |
| If Chris Evert is calling this a black thing, where is the prejudice against Osaka? Her dad is black American. |
| Hey, Rafa Nadal’s constant scratch (behind and front) is disgusting. Not only it’s a scratch but also a sniff. What happens if a female tennis player copy RN in the court? |
Excellence. But, they not gone like you. You know that, right? |
At the same time, all the story leads are referring to her as Japanese. And her dad is from Haiti, not the US originally. For whatever reason, the press is identifying her with Japan and not Haiti, even though her heritage is 50% from each country. At one point, the tv coverage panning over the crowd showed a group of fans holding up Haitian flags. So, Haitians are showing their support for her, even though the press doesn't seem to be covering this aspect of her background. |

Many people never liked Serena and Venus. But they had to learn to deal with the fact that they were beating them (badly) at their own game.
The very first chance they get to discredit or undermine them, they're all over it. They are resentful of these sisters. Always have been. Problem is, there are more Serenas on the way. They know it. |
Osaka's Dad is Haitian African, and she was born in US. Here is a good article on nastiness of US Open crowd. Katrina Adams being the worst offender, imo. https://nypost.com/2018/09/08/its-shameful-what-us-open-did-to-naomi-osaka/[url] |
People have already provided those examples throughout the thread. Stop playing coy and dumb. |
for whatever reason? she plays under Japan flag. She chose to do so. I have no idea and I don't care. but this has nothing to do with the press anymore than mladenovix playing for France or zverev playing for Germany. |
This is a silly argument. The rules are the same rules. And If you really watch the tennis matches, you know that Sharaponova is coached from the sideline all the damn time. Nobody cares or calls it out. The question going forward is will they begin to call it on the men and the other women. |
Other women do blow up as well. One player recently attacked the chair umps chair. I'm pointing out the double standard in the way men and women are treated. The double standard is sexist. Lots of other female players act like divas as well. Serena gets noticed because she destroys other players. Until recently no one could challenge her. There is so much resentment because of this. You clearly don't watch much tennis. |
This is how it happened. All the lunatic Serena supporters can just shut up and stop defending a bully. This was nothing about being black or a woman. Stop making excuses and be responsible for your actions. |
I'm not the pp and I did watch the entire match. I've been following tennis for decades. I won't be happy until he is fired. You have no clue how professional tennis matches are managed. He has had run ins with several players and has ego problems. What he did is not done in professional tennis particularly in a final. You are clueless. |
