Is this really a Holmes thing though? In our house the Monopoly board and all the pieces would always end up on floor with somebody crying and claiming someone else must of cheated. It was the only way we knew the game ended. I think that game has the effect on people. |

How is the trial going?
Also, has anyone ever heard a recording of Holmes before she started doing the ridiculous voice, or of her accidentally dropping it? It is just so absurdly artificial. I mimicked it for a while this afternoon just to annoy my teenager. |
I just watched a YouTube clip to hear her voice. It’s deep and odd but what makes it fake? I have a couple of colleagues with similar voices. I don’t find it pleasant to listen to but there’s no reason to think they’re fake. |
There are videos of her talking with her real voice. The deep voice is fake. |
| Do people just equate blonde with hot or beautiful? I’ve seen hundreds of pictures of this broad and she’s average at best. She must have been extraordinarily charismatic or something because I’m not buying that even a bunch of old men would throw money her way based on her looks. |
I think some of it was the female factor (they wanted to look good supporting a woman and show how with the times they were) and some of it was venture capital is/was flush with cheap money and wanted to hop on the bandwagon early hoping to have a hit. |
Some people do. Not everyone. I'm a thin blonde woman and I'm definitely "a type" to some men, in the way that Asian women are "a type" that comes with a LOT of assumptions about what your personality is like. |
I couldn't find a good example of her speaking in a clearly different voice. But there seem to be lots of people who "knew her before", or who have heard her let the voice lapse when drinking, saying that the baritone is definitely faked. I liked this article: https://www.wmagazine.com/story/elizabeth-holmes-voice-twitter-reactions-hbo Makes me think of Hilaria Baldwin, and wonder, is there a point after which you are not "faking" the artificial voice any more? Like, your fake accent just becomes your real accent? Or is it always something that you have to do deliberately? If so, as the article says: how F*&ing exhausting that must be, |
Please stop with the racist nonsense, and white privilege B.S. This is a fraudster who was very convincing, who had a impressive background along with the ability to sell. Very typical attributes of con artists..especially with high dollars crimes. |
No. Nice looking people are everywhere. She had the talent of being charismatic, salesmanship, and the nerve of being able to deceive many without any remorse. She also conned her husband into marrying her, believing her, and getting her pregnant. It will be interesting to see how the trial pans out! She's probably a sociopath, and/or has other personality disorders. A narcissist for sure, who shares the same traits other criminals of her magnitude have. |
| Lawyers of DCUM, do you the prosecution did a good enough job to get a conviction? I have a nagging fear Holmes will walk free. |
I chuckled when I first heard that she had a husband escorting her to her court dates. Of course she does. A moderately attractive blond facing years in prison for bilking people out of their savings in one of America's most infamous scams. What guy with a shred of self respect doesn't think to himself: better put a ring on it! |
It’s an image-she’s now a simple wife and mother who was taken advantage of. She’s as much a victim as anyone, right? Plus she’s going to get incredibly rich off of the book and movie deal. Don’t think for an instant she’s not going to capitalize in a big way on her fame (infamy). It’ll be low key for sure, but she will never be png’d from the truly wealthy and powerful. It’s her birthright. |
| Is she going to the hoosegow? |
