The reputation has long been that it is supremely political. The person on here spouting the kumbayah nonsense based on it being a non-profit is probably the current directors or board members trying to clean up their image. Its certainly not a altruistic organization in any way. The truth about Capital is much more complex and includes that it was started by parents, is still overseen by a parent board, and most telling, has coaches that also work at various schools in the WCAC and ISL. These folks all have a vested interest in seeing very specific girls succeed. The resulting politics are nasty.

The anti-Panthera stuff is probably directed at the owner as there isnt much else for people to target since they just started. The two are unrelated and the Capital stuff doesn't belong on this thread.

There is more truth in this comment than people at Capital would like to admit.

The Panthera Coaches/Boosters should really stop posting. Come back in three years and tell me how many kids you place in college programs. Otherwise its all hot air.

Look if your a parent or a kid why would you not tryout for Capital they obviously have the most success in placing girls. All this nonsense is being drummed up by people who want to make money from your kids. The point of a travel lacrosse program is to place kids. Doing that at a 90% clip is very impressive. I work as a business manager and if you told me every vendor I hired would deliver 90% of what they said they would do. I'd give them every outside contract.

Look at the websites of the other clubs all good programs but not close to the 90% number. Best I can tell most are less than 30%. So yes Capital misses some girls but not many.

With the growth of the game I really encourage Capital to grow the number of teams they field. They obviously have the right model and the game has grown in the area to the point they need to add teams. It would make the parents alot happier and keep the $$$ makers at bay. Please Capital add more teams the area needs your expertise and my daughter wants to play for your team!!

Ninety percent last year? Or over some longer time period? Of course, quality of the school and lacrosse program also need to be considered. Capitals does well with a few of the Ivies, I don’t see a lot of top 20 programs on the list, amd I do see a lot of D3. 2018 commits aren’t even listed. I personally don’t take issue with the assertion that the Capitals are the most competitive club in the dc area, but the boosterism seems fairly overblown, especially with the quality of the Baltimore area clubs less than an hour away.

Also, with all the claims that the Panthera owner is posting here, it strikes me that someone from Capitals is more likely to be doing so. This whole thread is pretty ridiculous, frankly.

1. Who wants to drive to Baltimore??
2. Most parents look at Lacrosse as a vehicle to get in better schools not doing it for money so the idea you look down on DIII programs means you don't get the main driver of these programs. I would rather send my kid to Amherst than UC Davis or High Point
3. Look at any other website and you will see the other clubs don't compare.

Please use this easy link that Capital provides on its website to show its record over the years.

There is something very wrong with you than you feel the need to continually advertise for your club here,

Since you brought it up, looking at the first of your alumni pages, I see Iona, Christopher Newport , amd Wingate as destinations for Capital players,. While I certainly hope your girls are doing well there, these schools are a far cry from Amherst,

+1 There is a lot of room in the DMV for a wide range of girls lax teams.

I agree that not every college that Capital sends to is top tier, so I just went to look myself to compare to the holy grail of high school girls lacrosse, M&D, and those commitments to not rival Capital. I have never and will never send a player to Capital (not good enough and wants to do other things in HS), so don't mistake me for one of the boosters here. Just thought it was a very interesting comparison. I would guess it has more to do with the quality of the high schools that the players are coming from than the quality of the team, however. McDonough is a great school, but still not as strong academically as DC area schools (I think, anyway).

This is probably the most salient point of all. Girls are not accepted into Ivies if their SAT scores are not hitting the mark. The Baltimore teams, while very competitive in lacrosse, do not have the same high caliber academic opportunities as some of our schools here in the DMV. And because here in the DMV most girls have been forced to play for only one group because of the lack of alternatives, the placement statistics are overstated. As more teams move into the DMV marketplace, this will start to even out but it will take a while for the teams to get traction. In the meantime, girls lax high school coaches are also building their relationships with colleges and universities, much like we've seen in boys lax, and that will make a big difference for girls, too.

Good luck to all the girls who made all these teams its a huge accomplishment the world is much bigger than lacrosse and these girls are lucky to continue to continue their dreams.

Someone posts the links twice in response to repeated bashing of Capital, some of which the moderator thought was bad enough that it should be deleted , and that’s continued advertising? I have a MS DD and am just starting to pay attention to HS clubs. I’m grateful for the links.

McDonogh/M&D grads are entering Stanford, Yale, and Duke this fall (McDonough class of 2018), so not sure why DC privates are considered superior, other than people’s typically misplaced dc snobbery. M&D also draws at least half its teams from Howard County public. There is typically also a pipeline to Maryland, girls going from top high school club in country to top collegiate program. These girls want to continue to play lacrosse at highest level,

The sock puppeting is pretty darn obvious.

A few posts back someone mentioned that the crash 22 team was more talented than the cardinal 22 team.

I’d like to hear the rationale behind that?

I’d argue the point that cardinal 22 played crash in the spring league 2017, crash lost both games and that was with a 2020 goalie and a talented pride player guesting for them.
Anonymous
I didn't post but I think its based on the fact Crash 2022 is a brand new team after tryouts in August. As of two weeks ago they are considerably better look at their roster. Considering they picked up 5 Stars Black players arguably their better players. Cardinal lost its best player a real difference maker that left to play at Capital Blue and heard they lost a few others. So you lost your best player and Crash had a bunch of talented girls join hence your team is not as good. Lots of politics at Cardinal from what a fellow Mom told me who has a player on the team.

Cardinal is also losing its Founder along with all her relationships to college coaches. She has been replaced by a business guy with zero contacts in the lax world. He also has daughters on the teams inherent conflict and a bad optics if your on their teams.

Please tell me how Cardinal got better?
Anonymous
Yes Cardinal lost 3 players to Capital. 1 to blue, 2 to orange.

I’d have to agree with you on 90 percent of what you said minus the founder part and the relationships that they have.

They did take on 3 new players so we will see how they do come November.
Anonymous
That's may be fair I don't know much about Cardinal but I was told the leadership was leaving and some parents (Dad) took over. At least during tryouts people seemed concerned. I had a number of friends saying they were concerned about the cuts they made this year and it was political. We play outside their area but those were the rumors. you could be right on Stars numbers I was told more.
