Really dumb and disruptive idewa that would make no one happy except Saratoga kids. |

Actually, the point is that it fix a regulatory issue while saving money.
Honestly, the biggest screw would be felt by West Springfield, which I find ironic since posters are constantly bashing Lee. What's funny is that the county is basically doing mini-tests moving one middle-class neighborhood after another. Eventually, it will result in Lee not meeting benchmarks and the county will scramble and I could see an idea like this taking off. I'm from Alexandria and remember the scrambling around JH. The city first did the nuclear option of closing and rebuilding the school. Now it's barring middle-class families from transferring out. The result? It's actually tracking to improve in the lower grades. |
| It makes no sense to send another super high FRL school to Annandale as it already has a very high FRL population. |
And this is the problem with the Board of Supervisors and School Board allowing so much poverty to be concentrated in the east and southeast part of the county. They can't fix it now. |
And that is part of the solution. Lee was identified because it is central to all of the schools that could absorb its capacity. Annandale has a fix. It’s moving the Woodson neighborhoods back. If a red flag goes up, al of these things will happen at once FWIW. |
It makes no sense to rezone and disrupt dozens of schools like PP is suggesting. |
Poor people have to live somewhere. You all assuming that the Lee folks want to be rezoned away from their community and school. With the exception of Saratoga mom who posts here all the time about rezoning Lee, many of the people who go to Lee might not feel the same way. That is their community. Fcps has removed trades education from many of their schools. Maybe making Lee a magnet for the academy programs in that part of the county would be a much more positive and effective thing to do instead of closing Lee to make an IB magnet. Many kids could benefit from the academy classes, particularly the kids at Lee who are not college bound. Most people do not want IB, especially if they have the option of AP. It is doubtful if there would be anywhere enough interest in IB to fill a 2000+ seat high school. |
What PP is suggesting creates bigger problems by lowering several high schools instead of just one high school being a problem high school. Why would FFX county want to take steps guaranteed to create even more low performing high schools and making even more schools over capacity. It is an impractical, not well thought out suggestion that only lowers the quality of education in fcps. |
All this does is take the population of Lee and puts it into the West Springfield building. There are 6 elementary schools that feed into WS. You are proposing moving in 4 to 5 elementary schools into WS, which means all but one of the elementaries currently there would need to move out of WS. So basically, Lee in a different building. Your suggestion defies logic and does nothing to affect student achievement. |
The more sensible fix is just to redraw the Lee and West Springfield boundaries and keep both schools open. |
| What does Edison's capacity look like? It is so close to Lee, and on the same road. |
It can absorb only one elementary feeder after sending the feeder that is on the other side of the beltway to Annandale Bren mar park |
You lack comprehension. PP is not saying ALL of these schools should be moved to WS, but some students from those schools should be. Boundaries need to be redrawn. There is huge economic disparity. |
I know for certain that multiple Saratoga parents post on this board - both Moms and Dads. |
No. She said close Lee and move all of those elementary schools. You did not read what that person wrote. |
