Oh joy! overpriced fasion sold to spoiled children, made by the slave labor of other children on the other side of the world.
Wow, we'd be lost without that! A gun range would've been better. |
| That bookstore and the White Flint Borders were where my friends and I used to hang out. Sad. |
Agree. Bethesda is becoming less and less appealing to me. I live nearby but the hassle of traffic and parking and pretentiousness is beginning to hit a breaking point. I grabbed takeout tonight from my kids' favorite place in downtown Bethesda, and I came back cursing and determined not to bother again. It occurred to me that Bethesda' retail/dining is becoming the exclusive province of UMC families who can afford to spend $1.5m and above for a house within walking distance of Bethesda Row/Woodmont/etc, or younger singles who want to be on the Red Line. We're neither of those things, so we'll increasingly find other places to spend our money. Tossing B&N for Anthropologie just seals the deal. |
Barf. That would've been a great spot for a Target Express. The one in Rosslyn is really nice. |
No one "tossed" B&N. it wasn't profitable because people didn't buy enough there. If people actually spent money there instead of just buying cups of coffee and using it as a library, it would have stayed in business. |

"A smaller urban size Walmart like they have in DC would be perfect. I'd go to the DC Walmarts, but with the exception of the one downtown on H street, the rest are in sketchy as hell ghetto locations like Georgia Ave or Riggs Rd. Uh, no thanks, I don't need some hoodrat robbing me on the way to my car.
A McDonalds would be good, too. No fast food anywhere in downtown Bethesda. That would be great." Said the junk food junkie to the hoodrat: "Yeah, another McDonald's, that's the ticket! Oh wait, maybe a Wal-Mart! That would be classy!" The irony. |
| ^word salad? |
We live in Bethesda, a short drive from downtown. I don't find parking to be an issue with the new lot and even traffic isn't that bad if you are really just going through downtown which I do on the way home. But, we don't wind up doing much shopping/eating there, other than takeout on the way home. We don't shop much anyway and the stores in Bethesda really don't have much of interest. We also find ourselves eating elsewhere most of the time. We actually go to Rockville more, even though it is a bout 15 minutes away (much more than downtown), because the restaurants are more interesting and certainly more reasonable. Other than a couple of Bethesda places we like, so many of the places are really mediocre and pricey for what they are. |
There already is a Target Express in downtown Bethesda. |
| Well I'll be damned |
| Ugh anthropology is the biggest rip off. I just picture a sorority girl trying to look carefree and permiscuous using her dads credit card. The clothes are terrible and I am shocked that they are so expensive. The only thing I like is the bedding/some home stuff. |
It really is awful. It's like the Lilly Pulitzer and Urban Outfitters had a bright and frilly yet ironic baby. |
| I wonder if this means they are closing their FH location, adding to the list of retailers that have left FH for Bethesda Row. |
