Oh joy! overpriced fasion sold to spoiled children, made by the slave labor of other children on the other side of the world. Wow, we'd be lost without that! A gun range would've been better.
Agree. Bethesda is becoming less and less appealing to me. I live nearby but the hassle of traffic and parking and pretentiousness is beginning to hit a breaking point. I grabbed takeout tonight from my kids' favorite place in downtown Bethesda, and I came back cursing and determined not to bother again. It occurred to me that Bethesda' retail/dining is becoming the exclusive province of UMC families who can afford to spend $1.5m and above for a house within walking distance of Bethesda Row/Woodmont/etc, or younger singles who want to be on the Red Line. We're neither of those things, so we'll increasingly find other places to spend our money. Tossing B&N for Anthropologie just seals the deal.
We live in Bethesda, a short drive from downtown. I don't find parking to be an issue with the new lot and even traffic isn't that bad if you are really just going through downtown which I do on the way home. But, we don't wind up doing much shopping/eating there, other than takeout on the way home. We don't shop much anyway and the stores in Bethesda really don't have much of interest. We also find ourselves eating elsewhere most of the time. We actually go to Rockville more, even though it is a bout 15 minutes away (much more than downtown), because the restaurants are more interesting and certainly more reasonable. Other than a couple of Bethesda places we like, so many of the places are really mediocre and pricey for what they are.
