Agree. Bethesda is becoming less and less appealing to me. I live nearby but the hassle of traffic and parking and pretentiousness is beginning to hit a breaking point. I grabbed takeout tonight from my kids' favorite place in downtown Bethesda, and I came back cursing and determined not to bother again. It occurred to me that Bethesda' retail/dining is becoming the exclusive province of UMC families who can afford to spend $1.5m and above for a house within walking distance of Bethesda Row/Woodmont/etc, or younger singles who want to be on the Red Line. We're neither of those things, so we'll increasingly find other places to spend our money. Tossing B&N for Anthropologie just seals the deal.[/quote]

No one "tossed" B&N.  it wasn't profitable because people didn't buy enough there.  If people actually spent money there instead of just buying cups of coffee and using it as a library, it would have stayed in business.[/quote]
