She has been meeting with her constituents. Just because she doesn't meet with you, doesn't mean she doesn't meet with her voters.

She represents hundreds of thousands of people. Like a smart politician, she focuses her time meeting with persuadable voters.

No reason to meet with folks that will never vote Republican or support yelling and screaming at meetings as opposed to civil bipartisan dialogue.

She represents every person living in this district. I was shocked when all our elected officials went to Dulles to help constituents during the travel ban mess and she was in hiding the whole time. It's in her district!

This has to be a troll. "Shocked" that she's acting like a Republican? Who do you think was elected a few months ago?

Anyone who reads and has studied her whole career knows she's a conservative.

With this level of understanding of the opponent, she may win again.

Nope, not a troll. The issue at the airport *in her district* was not a conservative/liberal issue. There was mass confusion and people who legally live in her district were being detained for no reason. She should have been there to assist her constituents.

Okay. Which constituents in VA-10, did she not assist? Could you please link to the news report that has the specific names of her voters?

Have worked on visa issues for constituents. When folks from our district were having issues getting in and out of the country, we were busy working the phones and interacting with the folks that actually pull the levers of power. They aren't at Dulles.

She may have done nothing in this case for her constituents, but a rally alone doesn't tell you anything.

Just FYI pp she represents everyone who lives in her district, not just voters. I'm interested in hearing her views on the immigration ban clusterfuck, dreamers, etc. Her district has a large immigrant population. that's one of the useful purposes of an in person town hall.

Do you work for Comstock or are you her mom?

These issues were addressed earlier in the thread. Surprise, she is a Republican and votes and acts like one.

And she will be voted out like one in 2018

It's stupid of her to walk lockstep with the party in a district as diverse and politically savvy as hers.

Same thing.

Talked about what, exactly?
They still don't have a real "replace" plan for the repeal - and everyone (including the Republicans) knows it.
Infrastructure? They won't do the spend - and won't legitimately raise the funds for it, either. Their "proposal" is to sell off public infrastructure to the private sector who will stick it to us in the form of rate hikes, tolls, et cetera.
Taxes? They want to give more massive tax cuts for the richest. Bush's tax cuts for the rich added 3.5 trillion to the debt and made the richest richer but didn't even budge unemployment or growth by a tenth of a point.

So what did she have to say? Just more of the same old stale, debunked bullshit? She has to go.

This. Western Fairfax and Loudoun are exploding in terms of population. She represents a ton of immigrants who vote LEGALLY and a ton of Feds and a huge number of the liberal, educated elites. The rest of her District is stagent in term of population growth. This is not Trump country by any means-- and even PW county has a lot of federal workers. She needs to stop acting like she lives in a safe red District in Oklahoma. She does not. Her District voted HRC in this election. Many people split ticket and voted for her because they felt she was very responsive and did a good job. I know several of them. And they have changed their tune already. They will vote in the midterms justbto get her out. Being a Trump apologist is not going to cut it in NOVA.

Oh look, it's Comstock's Constituent Services Rep posting...

Oh, look, it's a reflexively dismissive poseur.

So, you're not going to make a valid argument for your side, but instead attack what is likely a typo?

You win. I can't proof on an iPhone.

Now, about the substance? Why is she stupid enough to think she can represent a huge chunk of NOVA-- educated, liberal, racially diverse, ethnically diverse, Feds, etc. and act like we are undereducated flyover country Trumpkins? Yes-- she can kowtow to Trump and mollify her ROVA base for two years. She won. Trump won. No one can stop her. But it's a stupid thing to do. The changing demographics of her District mean that she is going to get killed in the midterms. There is just not enough ROVA to carry her in 2018.

The substance? Yes, northern VA is blue for the most part. Yes, this is probably her last term if a strong challenger is found. These are blatantly obvious points.

People are saying...

That she is just giving up on her District and planning a Senate run in 2018. I wonder if anyone has told her that VA is a blue statue and getting bluer. And that VA loves Tim Kaine? Trumpkin populism isn't going to unseat him. And if she were going to try, making NOVA hate her is a bad start.

But it feels like she must be planning a different move for 2018 or before. Because she has given up on her District. And her District is rapidly giving up on her. All the Trump hate seems to be concentrating behind her, because she is the thing that can be changed first and most easily. She *might* be able to save herself by breaking with Trump and going RINO. The lack of effort seems to indicate that she has other plans. National party leadership? Trump admin? Any ideas?

http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/barbara-comstock-no-attend-weekend-town-hall-234490

Rep. Barbara Comstock stood up constituents over the weekend who attended two townhalls with questions about an Obamacare repeal and the Trump Administration’s travel ban.

The centrist Virginia Republican invited people in her districts to “mobile office hours” on Saturday at two grocery stores in Lorton and Oakton, Va. The invitation specifically said she’d be there to answer questions about “issues important to you.”

But Comstock never showed up, angering dozens of constituents who wanted clarity on the GOP’s plan to replace Obamacare. Others wanted to question her about Trump’s immigration executive order. Dulles International Airport, after all, sits on the edge of Comstock’s district.

?
I want to know how comstock is going to stop the h1b fraud going on in her district that has resulted in the the IT group in Herndon for Fannie Mae being over 80% Indian.

How does that happen in a diverse community? 80% of one group when they are less than 1% of the population? No African Americans. US citizens over 50 no need to apply.

I know you hate facts, but let's try some anyone.

1. Fannie Mae is not taxpayers owned. It's tax payer guaranteed. There is a huge difference. The US Taxpayers don't own FM.

2. Companies that contract with FM are definitely not taxpayer owned. You beef is with a private company.

3. Asians gravitate towards STEM and dominate CS everywhere. DH has been in software development in 4 companies in 3 states. They have all been 80% Asian. Almost none H1B, BTW. Mostly naturalized citizens and green card. A lot of naturalized citizens whose parents brought them to the US as kids, where they attended school and college and went to work. Many have been here 20 plus years. The country of origin (China vs Korea vs India) changes depending on where he was based (NC's RTP vs DC vs Seattle). But it has always been an Asian dominant field. But a large piece is Asian AMERICAN.

4. Many if not not most Indian IT workers in the Dulles Tech corridor are not H1B. They are naturalized citizens or green card holders. Looking at someone of Indian descent and assuming they could not be a citizen is stupid and ignorant. A lot are. Guess what? They also live in Comstock's District and vote. She represents the Indian descent citizen tech workers. As it happens, there is a huge Mosque in her District. So, she also represents a lot of Muslims. And as long as Western Fairfax is the TJ feeder area, it will only draw larger numbers of educated Asians. She needs to get on board with this, or get a different job.
