Question for Madlax Parents

It is also a symptom of most Madlax teams. When they hit HS, people start scattering. Some looking for greener pastures and others simply tired of playing for Madlax.

The other big issue is the dad coach has a son on the team and some parents are tired of the politics.

Also, if anyone watches how the coach behaves in the field (tirades at his players, opponents, and officials), they see the behavior as an embarrassment and just choose to disassociate with the organization. His behavior is reflective within all the teams belonging to the organization, not just his.

Since these kids are in HS now, the commitment isn't nearly what it was in the past. These kids can go anywhere and play and will only need to show up for a handful of practices in the summer.

For years, Madlax parents looked the other way and justified lowering their morals because they felt it was the only top option for their kid.

Things have changed and now there are multiple better alternatives.

It has just been brought up on another thread that the MadLax 2023 team will have multiple 16 year olds on the roster for the HoCo Spring league and tournament schedule. These are 16 year old 8th graders.

Is this possible?
How is this tolerated by leagues, tournaments, other teams and MadLax parents?

The first question -- is it true?

Not only is it true but almost every team in the elite 7th and 8th grade divisions of HoCo will have multiple double holdbacks. These are 15 year olds playing in 7th grade and 16 year olds playing in 8th grade. Madlax has 3.

This occurs when a delayed entry kid is then held back due to emotional, educational or (sadly) athletic purposes. HoCo has no age restrictions because the clubs run the league and set the rules while HoCo manages the operations.

Your recourse is complain to Cabell at MadLax but that will certainly have your kid kicked off (save the emails); complain to your own club and see what they say; or complain to HoCo and have them tell you the clubs set the rules.

^^^ 3 seems low compared to black wolf, crabs and Vlc.

It's super low compared to Prep and Gonzaga.

^^^ What are you going to do about it? Will you ask your club how old the roster is? Are you going to the IAC and tell them to enforce the rules of no 20 year olds entering their senior year can't play?

Or are you from MadLax or some super pure club or high school?

Delayed entry is one thing but delayed entry beyond 3-6 months is another level. Delayed entry beyond 3-6 months and then hold back allowing the kid to play, technically, in their class is insane.

I hate Madax, but this is untrue. Those kids would then be 19 before their senior year and achools will not allow it.

That said, many Madlax teams hve tond of holdbacks, especially Madlax 2023 DC Dogs and their 24 team. The 24 team brought in 5 reclass kids nd are kicking longtime kids to the curb.

It is absolutely true and confirmed. Ask your own club because they get the information from HoCo. Madlax isn't ashamed and they will tell you their club is class based and who are they to tell parents what to do with their own kids.

So if the dogs have tons of holdbacks, you don't think there's a chance any of those kids started school late and then were held back when they hit MD?

You are kidding yourself. The high schools do allow it but they aren't supposed to play sports their senior year but this rule is never enforced. O'Connel got caught a few years ago and they denied to the end until they couldn't anymore.

Source? Proof? Not saying I disbelieve, and my kid is not in MadLax.

Wrong! you are not properly informed. Black Wolf 8th graders are playing in the HS division. They are playing UP not down. That is a fact. VLC kids are almost all public school kids and no older kids. This is a Madlax DC Dogs thing and maybe Crabs but Black Wolf is not even in the HOCO league so do not pin that on this team.

Call HoCo and ask them. They will tell you what division to play based on your roster and why. They will also clarify what is a class-based league vs an age-based.

Do you really think the kids in the lower divisions are that much smaller physically and less skilled than those in the elite division because of coaching? The tallest and largest player from the lower divisions will be surrounded by kids his size in the elite division.
