Those are impressive schools- what is the morale like at bI these days? Faculty like being there?

There are three impressive schools. The list is mediocre otherwise

You, sir or madame, are a pretentious ***hole.

We deal with overflow parking on the streets, careless teen drivers, “romantic interludes” that expose too much flesh to passing elementary kiddos and more. Hoping the renovation gets these off our streets.

Really?! It’s a high school. I expect it was there before you were. Don’t be so grumpy. I bet you were a kid once too.

Geez, I live in the neighborhood too and the above is quite an exaggeration.

I'm sorry, but it's the truth. If you look at that list and don't see mediocre, then you don't know what mediocre looks like. To you, everything is impressive.

I’m not particularly impressed by someone with an Ivy League education, nor is the majority of the workforce. The idea that someone going to a good state school makes them mediocre...just makes you extraordinarily out of touch with reality.

Going to an elite University is wonderful...on scholarship. If you pay hundreds of thousand of dollars more for that education than you could have received at a ‘mediocre’ School, your probably wasting your money. Your kids earning power isn’t likely to be that much better. But it might make you feel better about your child, I guess.

In short...just don’t be a jerk.

We can argue over what colleges are worth high-priced tuition, and whether/how to navigate payments with or without scholarships. That's a separate conversation. Claiming the above list is impressive is nothing but hyperbole.

T.C Williams's list is more impressive.

To be fair a. TC has a lot more kids and b. There is a lot of gaming the system with TC - inner city school, with 50% inner city kids, 50% affluent kids

BI has a 100% graduation rate and 100% college acceptance rate. The kids are surrounded by kids that would like to further their education and they are preparing them for that. We are very happy there.

To us, the number of students going on to Catholic Colleges is particularly interesting. We hope DD is open to this path.

The colleges listed above not only account for all students (including the one who will enlist), but many are instate values.

Some folks won’t get it, and that’s okay. We love the Ireton family and trust them with our daughter and her academic and spiritual future.

I concur that the list provided is a list I am comfortable with for my future BI graduate.

I am very interested to learn about any potential changes coming with the new President. There is so much turnover in the diocese and especially with leadership I am interested to see what the impacts will be.

Does anyone have a complete list of new principals in the diocese?

You are also forgetting the 30% of the TC Williams grade that ends up in the penitentiary

She is a merit scholar recipient, in the honors wind ensemble (which travels internationally every year), takes all honors course (which she had to qualify for), is involved in the theater program, and received academic performance recognition. We live in the City of Alexandria and know of a number of waitlisted kids so they certainly don’t accept all that apply. We have a son at SSSAS, and my daughter’s education is easily comparable to the education he is receiving.

I think this Bishop Ireton has been a little harder to get into lately since Paul IV is moving to Loudon. They had an increase in applications.

If your child is having issues getting into BI, then your child HAS to be dumb and that is most likely not the case. BI is a safety school—my DC, whilst in middle school saw the dumbest of kids who don’t try at all get into BI. Bad influences are everywhere. My DC knew of a kid who submitted their application 5 days after it was due and she STILL got in.
Simply put, this is not a competitive school to get into. It never will be.

Wow. You are really unkind, you are talking about children here.. Fact of the matter is, students are rejected or waitlisted at all schools, and yes, that includes BI.

There are bad influences at every high school. BI is just a Catholic option to TC, and that is perfectly fine
