New York Top Schools - Top marks largely go to Asians. Bill de Blasio wants to change the exams

Talks about lowering the standard for the entrance exam happen every few yrs and it always turns out to be lip service by some politician to appease their constituents. Nothing ever comes out of it and in all likelihood Stuy, Bronx Science, etc will remain majority Asian.

Keep blowing smoke, Bill.

Yes and frankly sty was a horrible high school experience. Then mit, nearly the same but less pressure.

Maybe for you. My cousin had Frank McCourt (Pulitzer Prize for Angela's Ashes) as his English teacher. Still raves about Stuy more than where he went to college (Yale).

One of my college roommates did too. He sounded awesome as a teacher .

The thing about these schools is that they are public. The really rich families in NYC have plenty of choices for schools. The kids who get in don't have some huge financial advantage. They're smart kids who've typically worked hard and prioritized education. DiBlasio is trying to change the wrong thing, imho.

They never have existed.

And it should not exist. there is more to making a professional than grades. Take it from me, a successful professional with the grades and everything, but socially messed up, just learned at age 50 to work with others, finally have a good output.
