His wife's job is raising the kids, jerk |
Trader Joe's sucks and not worth the money. Processed crap. |
So the bananas there are manufactured? how about the avocados? or the onions? Man I'm glad, I had no idea they weren't the real deal. |

Your wife sounds like a royal pain in the ass who doesn't know the value of a dollar.
This is why I only date attractive, smart women who make more money than myself. I couldn't respect a leech who Hoovered up all my money. |
... who really knows a cheap cut of meat when she see one. |
Ha!

If it is $1200 a month divide that by 4 weeks and that is only $300 a week. I think the cost is reasonable but if you don't, you do the shopping for what your household needs and then you can see what the totals are. Time, convenience, and gas are also factors. Having a young child, I can see why organic food may be of importance to your wife. In a marriage, pick and choose your battles. Do you have cable? Cell phone? Etc.? There are plenty of ways to cut costs in daily living. As long as she is making healthy food choices for your family, I would recommend looking elsewhere to cut costs. |

I am not so sure OP's wife is a SAH mom, in which case blaming her for poor meal planning seems a little harsh. Budget does seem really high though. I spend about $225/week, mostly at Giant for a family of 4. I go to TJs about once a month. I only go to WF for seafood. I happen to live near a good Giant though.
Not sure what you are buying that adds up so high. |
The bananas are some of their produce that look beautiful but go bad the next day, or you notice when you get home they're already overripe to the point of splitting open. The avocados and onions are fine, but they cost 50% more than they should. The only produce that is generally cheap and fresh at TJ's is bagged lettuce. |
We spend $400 per month for a family of three - and we eat fresh vegetables and home cooked meals every single day. |
| We do not, however, shop at Whole Foods. |
