But what strikes me as odd is that he came to this conclusion after 6 kids and 2 marriages; hes in his 60s.

Is he simply a slow learner? Any indication he might have been bi all these years or some other warning signs??

And why exactly is his wife divorcing him?

I have nothing against the fact that Bruce is transitioning, more power to him. I do think it is ridiculous that people are complaining that he is being mistreated because there is a media circus surrounding his transition. If Bruce were someone who had pursued a private life beforehand, I would completely agree. However, he is someone who had made millions of dollars from having a media circus surrounding every aspect of his life, and you can't expect to just suddenly turn that off.

Betting he was probably cross dressing for most or all of his adult life. He comes across as a very testosterone driven man's man. His story will be fascinating!

Does transitioning mean he's gay? It is interesting that a male athlete is transitioning to female. Isn't it often the other way around? Or they stay men but are gay.

No, it doesn't. It means that he is uncomfortable in his male body and believe that he should have been born a female. That is all it means. He can still be gay, straight, or bisexual regardless. He is gay if he transitions to female and likes women. He is straight if he transitions to female and likes men.

If Bruce is transitioning from being a man to becoming a woman, and Bruce is sexually attracted to women, that would technically make Bruce a lesbian.

If Bruce is transitioning from being a man to becoming a woman, and Bruce is sexually attracted to men, then that would technically make Bruce straight.

But generally, I think a lot of people are learning that sexuality isn't so binary, and gender certainly isn't. Being a person and being attracted to another person is what a lot of people prefer - dropping the limiting labels and terms.

I'm confused by both points. My understanding is that gender is not derived by sexual preferences. Although, in a case such as this I'm completely flummoxed. If your strictly looking at it from a scientific aspect gender is established by the XX and XY chromosomes. So, if he becomes a women and likes women he's straight and if he likes men then he's gay. Is there any indication that he even likes men?

Once Bruce has transitioned, he won't be gay or straight...he will be transgendered/trans. That's what the T stands for in LGBTQ. T is it's own separate category, people.
