So many minorities in the government

If you asked them to fax or fed ex something, they looked like you like you had two heads. Now, that said, the lawyers worked their asses off (and were very diverse, all races and religions), so this is not a racial thing but an employment/union thing. It was pathetic.

So, the lawyers sent their own faxes and Fed Ex shipments?

yep. and the admin talked on the phone with their friends all day.

what kind of a person cannot send their own fax or fedex?

To me that is outright ridiculous, almost like expecting someonevat the office to bring you coffee

Think the point is that the support staff were hired to do this job. They are being paid to do this as their job and collecting expensive benefits. If the people who they supported did this on their own, there would be no reason to hire support staff.
Also, the people who they support focus on their job and the support staff, generally who are paid less (maybe not so true in
government) do their work at a lower cost. Kind of like a client paying for $5/5 minutes of clerical work vs $1/5 minutes.

Lower cost?
Any company that hirses a person to send a fax must be the joke of the town

Who do we hire? Minority vet with a degree in HR from University of Phoenix. The individual can't even run a basic function in excel
. The whole department consists of a few competent analysts and a whole bunch of other people who are terrible at their job but were hired by the gov't for one reason or another.

Shame on your hiring panel, HR and manager (signed, a 26 yr. Fed manager).

The individual had the triple crown. Minority, Vet with disability rating, and female. I cringe everytime she tells me she went to school for a year at night to "graduate" with a "bachelors" from Phoenix.

Just because she was put in the wrong position, does not mean she too stupid to do ANYTHING. I guess all those quotes mean that you don't believe an online degree is "real". I guess what she was doing was "real" enough when she was serving our country in the military.
Bad fits happen all the time, ALL THE TIME. How many times have I seen and heard of people NOT hiring folks because they KNOW they are smarter than they are. I have seen it happen, because the idiots are stupid enough to say it!

I didn't say she was too stupid to do anything. She's just way over her head in the position she was placed in based on her education and intelligence. And as a result, the rest of the hardworking and competent analysts get to carry her load while she sucks up the same pay and struggles.

And if you really think Phoenix is the same as a real college education, then I don't know what to tell you.

Amen, sista. I recently listened to a heated argument by a Univ of Phoenix graduate who was convinced that her degree was the equivalent of a degree from Johns Hopkins, etc., yet she couldn't figure out why the other people in her agency with degrees from top colleges kept getting promoted.

Sometimes even people who went to name brand schools are also not so bright.

Which was my F**** point
But you have so many people who think their name brand degree makes them smarter and more deserving than their generic counterparts.
Please ...

Name brand schools have a thing called standards.

Even if they don't appear bright, they still proved themselves more than a Phoenix graduate.

Baby please..
There Are idiots at the University of Phoenix, MIT,Harvard and Montgomery County community college if you don't think idiots can get in any and everywhere you might want to take a second look.
Anyway, grown ass people trying to get by on where they went to school instead of WHAT they can do is the reason the Peter Principle is alive and well.

Where you went to school definitely matters. And equating a Univ of Phoenix degree with an ivy league degree, well, nevermind.

You Totally missed my point. If you believe that every person who was excepted to matriculate through and graduate from an ivy league school is the next coming of Albert Einstein then you my friend Are the one I'm worried about. By the same token, I am certainly not going to assume and operate on the assumption that someone with a degree from the University of Phoenix is an idiot or subpar candidate for any position. Very often experience in the workplace is what And up separating the men from the boys.
The proof is in the pudding not on the piece of paper you got on graduation day. There are smart people everywhere let's not operate on what we assume we know but operate on what we actually know

Ivy league grads tend to receive preference for highly sought after positions, but if you want to hire sub par candidates based on "what they know" without regard to their education, then that is your choice. However, many jobs do have specific degree requirements that are best filled by candidates who display academic excellence.

What they know would encompass their education, would it not?
Are you being deliberately obtuse? All I am saying is that having an ivy league degree does guarantee that the person is a genius or qualified. EVERYONE should be thoroughly vetted, unless you think Harvard
degree, there is no need for further vetting?.
