Be the change you want to see in the world.

Excuse moi?

Email the group. Revive it yourself.

Hi! This sounds great. Is there any way to get involved now? TIA

There is a LOT of interest in this and it would be good to have a Francophone school to balance out all of the Spanish at the DCI. So why is the e-mail group private? At this point, you need more voices, not less. Why are you limiting yourselves?

The group is dead; I am on the distribution list and haven't gotten an email in months. If you want to revive it, I would suggest doing so by creating a new group--posting an email address here where people who are interested can contact you to join in.

And, if someone restarts this, I'd suggest finding a new name.

Hi! I was in the original group. There was a yahoo "moderator" who set up our yahoo group and was allowing interested people to join the email list. I'm not sure if she is still available to help with that. What I do know is there was a lot of challenges in meeting and when that became apparent, the group fizzled out. Also, regarding the name, Haricots Verts was just a working title. There was a great deal of feedback that the name was not a good brand. At this point I'm still very interested, but I'm thinking that a complete fresh start is necessary. It didn't appear, this is just my impression, that many of the people interested had any experience in charter school development. Some identified their connection to the language, but many more of us were English and/or English/Spanish natives.

If anyone has any interest/know how/passion, please email the email moderator. Maybe that will re-kick up interest.

I'm the moderator, still here...still have the yahoo group active, just nobody posts to it.

If anyone wants to join, they can still email me and I will add them to it.

Stokes has gotten very popular and there is increased interest in another French program. It is time to get moving on this program, with the intent of becoming an IB school and feeding into the DCI.

Is anyone else interested? How does this process work?

Not this again!

Why not? Would you rather spend your time complaining about the lack of options and your kids' triple-digit wait list number?

Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Focus runs some workshops for people looking to start charter schools. They are in the spring from what I remember. I was thinking of going to one last year but then work got too busy. But another strong charter would be most welcome if anyone is so motivated!

What is Focus? Do you have a link? I looked at the DCPS site but saw a bunch of legalese...

My bet is someone will mention preference for FARM kids and Haricots Verts is dead (again) in the water. However, I would be excited for someone to go through the effort to start a French charter specifically for at-risk kids. Now is the time to do it.
