I've been driving for a while, and this problem has only happened for me within the last decade. So I'm thinking either the quality has gone down thanks to those tissue tshirts, or maybe it's the small Lycra/stretchy component a lot of clothes seem to have these days. For that to be true, there would have to be something about snagging Lycra. |
It's the button/snaps of jeans causing the holes. When I wear skirts I don't get holes. An easy and cheap product I found to cover the area of your jeans to stop the holes is a clip and their website is licketyklip.com. I fortunately no longer have to worry about getting holes as long as I remember to wear my clip. lol |
It's the buttons or snaps? I don't think so. I've been wearing jeans for 40 years and never had a problem until a year or two ago. It's the cheap, crappy fabric used in even expensive T-shirts. None of my old T shirts have holes - irrespective of price. All of my new T shirts do have holes. I'm wearing the same jeans, leaning up against the same counters so the variable is the fabric. Back in the day cotton T shirts wore like iron and kept their shape and color. Honesty I would be willing to pay a premium to have a shirt made of premium fabric. I have neither the time nor the money to spend on the shoddy monstrosities that pass as women's shirts these days. |
HELP!!! It's not jeans as I don't wear them that often....and I see the holes in shirts I"ve only worn once!!
I keep all my t-shirts rolled in a zipper hanging bag in my closet and STILL get holes? It has to be some kind of bug? RIGHT?? HELP HELP |
Bottom line....fabric is made SO cheap now a days! A sales clerk at Macys told me to NOT use fabric softener on my clothes as it breaks down the fabric too easily. I think she is on to something...cheap fabric softened = holes! I also have been conscious of leaning in on my countertops at home. Very annoying problem for sure!! |
I get these and do not use fabric softener other than the dryer sheets which I don't think are what you're talking about. |
get better quality shirts! i bought a cheap thin one at old navy i think and it already had a little hole at the hem after a day! |
Why does this thread keep getting reactived over and over? I've never had a T-shirt hole problem. Does someone get some jollies over reactivating this thread repeatedly? So weird. |
I think my husband hit the nail on the head. He thinks it's from me standing next to the kitchen Counters cooking and cleaning. This is exactly the right height for the holes and after running our hands along the edges of the counters there are tiny areas where a snag can occur. I am going to wear an apron in the kitchen from now on. |
I'm having exactly the same issue here! It didn't occur until two years ago, but it never stopped since then. I'm still trying to figure out the real reason for those tiny wholes. ![]() |
I'm a science teacher so I always blamed it on chemicals and lab tables. But I get them in the summer, too (when I don't wear jeans or drive very much). I hate it. |
Our modern "color safe" detergents have ingredients designed to take off the top "faded" fabric layer of your clothes. So your clothes stay brightly colored longer. The downside is the clothes don't last as long. Plus fabrics are cheaper nowadays.
The belly button area of your shirt is under more mechanical stress than most parts of your shirt. Many of us have a bit of a pooch and also the fabric rubs against pant buttons, furniture, etc. So I'd guess things you could try are to: 1. use regular no frills detergent 2. get flatter abs 3. get clothes with higher quality fabric 4. wear pants with no front buttons That's all too much effort for me, I'd rather just buy another t-shirt. |
This has been happening to me only for the last year or two and I'm baffled. Today I'm wearing a BRAND NEW tshirt purchased a week ago, worn for a few hours today and I see there are holes near the waist. I have not rubbed up against any countertops today and I surely would not have bought it like this. Ah!! So frustrating!! Why is this happening ? ? |
I have never had that happen and I wear cheap shirts. |
I clicked on this to post the same thing. I do not get this- it's like an alternate universe where A) this happens and B) people care about it and C) they keep posting! |
