The struggle is real! Let us know where you buy your shirts, though, because you seem to have found a company that makes shirts that don't get holes. |
EVERYWHERE. target. Hanes. Ann Taylor. Model's. Wall Mart. Anywhere they are $15 or less. Now stop posting!! |
But for those of us who it happens to (and I have never posted on this thread before) it is so mysterious and infuriating as almost new t shirts get these tiny holes over and over. And frankly most of the theories on this thread about how it happens are not persuasive to me. But these tiny holes keep appearing! |
This has been happening to me for years, but I can only remember the years that I have been over weight. I'm sitting typin this and looking at my trousers and my zip sticks out a bit and I think it is the zip fastner and also as I stand by the kitchen sink so much the zip also rubs on my t-shits. I've tried wearing a belt as this pulls my zip inwards and I'm sure this helps |
It is definitely from your pants....more than likely the metal button rubbing up against your shirt. I was getting this quite often, old, new, thin, thick; didn't matter. I now place a piece of electrical tape across the button to prevent it. I tried wearing a thinner t-shirt/tank under my tops, but didn't like the feel of that. The tape seems to be working quite well. Very frustrating!! (I have ruined some really nice tops this way!) |
This thing has been dragging from 2012! Amazing.

I can think of at least 3 Loft shirts of mine that have gotten those little holes in the last few weeks! |
it the fabric this only started happing in last few years. never happened before. It happens to all my new shirrs that have either modal or viscose in it. And yes holes appear out of no where before you wash. and each time you wash they get bigger and worse. I think it is the fabric itself.

Lofts tee shirts are the worst. These are the only ones that get little holes in them. |
Its the jeans buttons not moths that cause the holes.Always the holes appear in t shirts jumpers in the same area (belly button level) never at back of t shirts. After years of struggling with this problem and many thrown away t shirts I believe the answer is to cover the jeans buttons(its either friction or the nickel content of the button.I bought a new t shirt in a shop this week and put it on(as the one I was wearing had holes in!) within hours the holes appeared in my new t shirt and I had not even been home!! Hence it proves its not moths or anything in the house (washing machine theory long forgotten)
I wear marks and spencer Per Una Jeans same brand for 4 years ..that's when the problem started ,Never happens when I wear flat top trousers. no holes in anything other than tops. 5 Family members and nobody else experiences this problem. So now I am trying to figure out how to cover the jeans buttons or maybe remove them and replace with ordinary button? Good luck and be assured it is not moths(I have bought hundres of punds worth of t shirts/tops in the last four years and all ruined. Also bought plastic zip up clothes hanging bags, moth repellants etc ..clearly moths were never the problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Agreed it's the jeans. It's the top corner of the button tab. If it sticks out or bends at all I get holes in my shirts. It only happens with jeans. |
Oh my god finally! I was always too embarrassed to ask anyone. Thank you DCUM! |
Wait! I thought it was from wear and tear of my seat belt. Maybe it's my jeans! More research is needed. |
I have holes in both my thin and thick t's. I get them from carrying my granddaughter while I have jeans on. Her legs are constantly wiggling around. |
Lift up your top when fastening and unfastening your pants. Problem solved. |
