Why? Are you looking for him. Here ya go. https://www.golfdigest.com/story/former-president-barack-obama-joins-a-second-dc-area-golf-club/amp |
Brett is at CCC. Still up in the air who paid his initiation fees. Then each month, I’m not sure. Is he paying plus his indoor can of balls and a winter center salad and beer? Who the eff knows |
Was Obama told tp stay away from playing at Woodmont because of his lack of support for Israel's policies of settlement in the Palestinian lands? |
More obviously it’s about social capital, networking if you are a lawyer, and bragging rights/elite status for your kids who “grew up there,” later in life. |
No limit. |
You have to be sponsored by current member who will help you with the 14 letters of rec thing. Typically they will host a cocktail party for you to meet members who will draft a letter on your behalf. Initiation is around 100k dues around 700 a month. It’s a lovely club, very family oriented. We belong to Congressional, but always enjoy our time with friends at Chevy. Food is quite good! |
Yes, in a previous generation that was what “good girls from good families” did. Often very highly educated, from money, married well. High powered men like private teaching type women who want to stay at home, as long as they are well-bred. Typically at home while raising kids then might return to teaching. |
Can anyone share current initiation + annual dues info, and whether the initiation fee is paid all at once or over several years, as a PP mentioned? We have friends who have offered to sponsor us, but we aren't comfortable asking and though we could afford the numbers I've seen referenced upthread, I'd like to have a more concrete idea before we start the process. Also, we are big tennis players, but not particularly interested in golf. Have heard there's no non-golf membership option. Can anyone confirm? |
Amenities are not ala carte. Costs are not published. Ask your friends and they will gladly tell you. It’s not offensive to ask what something costs. |
I’ve been there a few times as a guest with old family friends and it is very nice. Nicer than other clubs I’ve been to by a wide margin. Also, when I was growing up and friends’ families belonged there it was a good source of activities and a social life for the kids and teens. So, that is the plus side. People there are extremely conservative, and as far as I could hear politics are constantly discussed, even on the tennis courts and ice rink. If you are even a moderate Republican, it would be awkward. |
Again, no one is telling them they CAN’T. People are expressing, and will continue to express, their opinions that their choice to do is bizarre and not in keeping with the teachings of Christianity (real Christianity, not MAGA megachurch Jesus). |
hahaha agree. i drive by there all the time and the other night for their fireworks show was trying to figure out what the place was- so many white families who looked like they had just walked out of catalogs hahhaha. no thank you. |
Chevy Chase Club fireworks this year were on July 5. So you, given the date of your post, you didn't walk past it the other night. Do you just make stuff up and post it? |
So basically they are now rightwing extremists? I mean, are they saying the n-word in public? |
Totally wrong on Chevy Chase politics. it's a wide mix of Republicans and Democrats. That tends NOT to be any kind of criterion for membership. The members tend to not discuss politics without first gently measuring the views of the person they are talking to. No one is interested in getting into a political duel while there. It's a time for friendship and relaxation. I'm a member and a moderate Democrat. One of my long time golfing friends is as liberal as anyone I know. Yet there are sure to be plenty of Republicans playing with us side by side, having a pleasant lunch or dunner with us, etc. And that's the way it should be. |
