What do you think about Stella and Dot jewelry?

Anonymous
I get that it's costume jewelry, but it just seems very overpriced. I can find costume jewelry at Loft, Baublebar, and Etsy for half the price, and I can shop without the discomfort of a bunch of women sitting around while the host pretends she really wants you there for a party but she's actually just getting free jewelry. I simply don't get why I would order from S&D. There doesn't seem to be any benefit.

The girl selling the jewerly didn't pressure us at all and actually sat in another room so we could approach her when we had questions or wanted to buy something. I get complemented on their jewlerly all the time.

If you get invited to a Stella and Dot party, you should assume jewelry were there (for those saying that parties are tacky when things are being sold) It's not like you were deceived into thinking it was a party and then all of a sudden stuff was being sold!

I don't think anyone has said they've been deceived, they just feel like they're in a difficult spot in not wanting to piss off their friends and not wanting to buy overpriced jewelry they don't like. I was invited to one, looked at the website, and had prior plans for the evening. If you as a friend need money, how about I just give you some?

CHEAP. Bought a ring 3 days ago. It shipped super fast! Broke within 10 minutes of me wearing it! A regular priced 60$ ring by the way. Still waiting to hear back from the stylist on whether or not I'll get a refund.

That's crappy! $60 for a ring of such poor quality it broke in minutes? I'm staying away from this jewelry line.

I LOVE their pieces, but it's VERY cheap quality for the price you pay. I bought a "sterling silver" bracelet, but within a few months, the seemingly thin silver plating is rubbing off revealing copper. If I pay $50 for a bracelet, I expect it to last. I've had other friends who ordered rings with the same result - after a few months, all the silver was gone. (In contrast, I bought a silver ring over 25 years ago from a street vendor for $6. I wear it ALL THE TIME and it's still perfectly silver.)
Ordered an intricate necklace, it arrived broken. Have to admit they were super fast to replace it, but I was surprised there was no quality checking on the pieces.

I love Stella and Dot, obsessed, it's good quality not 100% gold but they use gold plating. If you know about jewelery you know it's nice to purchase something glamourous and in between quality with the same look. Of course there are lemons and defects, there are in fine Jewelery also. I sold jewelry for Kay, JBR,Jared's and like this line for a more affordable stylish looks. The sales are amazing!! They offer life time warrenty on the products. My stylist is an old friend and she has not once presured me to have a party or become a sales person. She just went to Paris because she is able to afford it because she is good at what she does. Anyone that haggles a friend or anyone to join them is just bad at their job especially if it causes stress. I'll have another party because I do not force my friends and guests to shop but to come over and enjoy friends and some pretty things to look at!!

I just received a Stella and Dot wallet from my boss for Christmas (2013). I was totally unfamiliar with this brand. For the past 5 years he's given me Louis Vuitton, Coach, and Michele accessories. So I was excited to find out more about Stella and Dot.

How utterly disappointing!! A home accessory party?? Purchased impersonally by his wife no less. Geez.

The quality is less than sub par, as all home party goods are. I stopped going to home purchasing parties long ago. I was tired of so-called friendships based on subtle but pervasive pressure to buy buy buy. Drink my wine? You better buy a candle/necklace/spatula.

I absolutely spent more time and effort (because I truly love doing it) picking out his gift than he did mine. He'll never be able to look up what I bought for him online (and I spent $125 for the record) but it took me all of 30 seconds to find the cheap $60 wallet he didn't pick out for me.

No, just no.

The only people who can afford to go to Paris off of earnings from a job like this one are the people who got in on the ground floor (which is such a small percentage that it's a unicorn) or people who don't need a job in the first place but do this as a side SAHM thing and use all of their income as disposable or fun money. I suppose there are also a few who are stylists while they work a regular full-time gig, but I wouldn't imagine they could make a lot seeing as how they are occupied with another job.

And a news flash for ya: your friends feel pressured and that is why they are buying things.

I have purchased a bracelet and earring set from this company and the cost was over ninety dollars for the set. After wearing the bracelet which was a stretchy bracelet, only a few times , it actually fell apart! When I contacted the girl who sold it to me all I received was a flippant answer that nothing would be done about replacing or fixing it. So I would advise anyone to not waste their money on these cheaply made products that the company does not even stand behind!

I have several of their pieces and because they have been such a sucess with my outfits and durability, I've been considering becoming a rep. I stand by Stella and Dot and believe so much in their product that I'm willing to put my good name foward and sell it

You sound like someone shilling for Stella and Dot or are you just a spambot?

I was invited to a "party" and was also shown the jewlwery. I actually thought the jewlery is very TACKY and looks really CHEAP. I struggled to pick ANYTHING out and so did the rest of the ladies....first and last time!! I asked if it is silver they said "no.....its really good metal but you have to clean it and keep in in a bag to maintain it". They showed me a regular black purse - for over$200 and I said "is it leather?" and she said "hmmmmm no...its synthetic but that way it is more durable"!!! OMG wow and they believe this crap is quailty.

I was asked to host a psrty as well - said ABSOLUTELY NOT - I would rather spend my money elsewhere. Gross......
