That’s what I was wondering. The crime took place on a vacation in Florida, so I wonder if the local authorities charged them with something basic so they could keep their investigation moving quickly (before the kids could be coached.) I’m disappointed because it appears Kendra isn’t cooperating. They’re taught to distrust the government and only listen to their headship and church so it’s possible she’s only worried about the government taking her kids and not protecting her gross husband. |

I'm no Duggar fan (seems to me that many of them should be rotting in jail), but if they really did just arrest Kendra for turning around the locks on the children's bedrooms, then that's absurd. These kids aren't teens - they're 7, 6, 5, and 4. That's pretty young.
I've known many parents who have done this. Yes, I see how it's a fire hazard for older children, but there are plenty of four year olds who still sleep in cribs. Aren't they fire hazards? If you've got an immature, impulsive crib-climber, then your safest option is to move them to a floor bed or toddler bed, baby-proof the room, and lock the door. Duh. I think I've even seen that suggested here on DCUM. "False imprisonment of a child" should not mean locking your own very young children safely in their room at night. That's major government over reach. At MOST this should be a conversation with CPS, parenting classes, and some follow ups. Not an ARREST. |
Tell me we aren't all just spectators here! |
This this this. Fundamentalist homeschoolers have it drilled into them that Social Services exists to take children away from good Christians. See https://www.nathhan.com/howtosocial.htm |
Were the school aged kids the ones locked in their rooms? I kind of assumed the ones locked in rooms were babies and toddlers, but no, I agree, if it was the school-aged kids that's too old to be locking in the room at night. |
Yeah, it feels like massive government overreach to arrest her. He can rot in prison for the rest of his life, I don't give a shit. The problem here is that the Duggars, including the wives, are insanely unpopular. The only Duggars with any fans are the older sisters who made a break and wear jeans/use birth control while still being religious zealots. |

If Jim Bob truly did join this religion to correct the sins of his father who was a pedophile according to Jim Bob’s sister and niece, is the fault in the religion or the parenting? Was this bound to happen either way?

| Kids shouldn’t have locks on the outside of their door at the ages of 4 and above. That is strange to me. |
I think these charges will be dropped. |
There is no evidence that this is what they arrested her for. It's just internet speculation. All that's actually been shared are the charges: 4 counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, 2nd degree and 4 counts false imprisonment, 2nd degree (these were the charges for both her and Joseph). I sincerely doubt Arkansas small town police are arresting people for turning their children's doorknobs around. This is unrelated to Joseph's FL charges. |
We don't know exactly what it was but Kendra was released within 2 hours with a minimal bond so it wasn't anything major. |
|
He had his first court appearance. Bond was set at $600k and it doesn’t sound like they’re making him stay in Panama City.

It was in People magazine. It was because of the locks. We do have evidence. |
