Not soon enough. Parents are concerned that trying out for other teams could negatively affect their child’s status on the current team.
I know every year people say coaches talk, but do you think that is real? I’m trying to picture how that conversation goes and why they would ever do it. Is there any other way they could find out?
hell no. The coach knew when half the team was missing at the same time an id session took place
Coaches aren’t calling each other. Why would a coach call and say your player is here at tryouts. They actually don’t want the current club to know. As soon as the current club knows they start pressuring the kid to stay.
In general coaches find out from parents/players.
So parents and kids are snitching? Shame on the coach for allowing an environment where that could even

So, for those whose son/daughter have switched to a different club, did you let the coach know before you attend ID sessions and received an offer, that you will be leaving the club or did you wait to let the coach know at the end of the spring season (obviously you have an offer by then)?

I would sit tight lipped and if they reach just say we have not decided yet. Let them revoke the offer.

If you kid is exceptional, do not worry about the 24-48 BS. Just decide on your time.

I call bullshit. Arlington is known for moving quickly so it doesn’t lose top talent. Not so much for VDA.

VDA will move quickly for the top 1/3rd of the roster and slow roll the hell out of the rest of it.

VDA has made offers to some players.

Other clubs as well. Everyone is trying to wrap up players due to roster uncertainty this year. Probably not a concern for ARL or VDA boys players, but I would be concerned accepting an early offer on another club without knowing what the roster will look like. Teams could go from average to bad easily due to attrition.

You have no idea what's going on with VDA and Arlington.

Arlington and VDA both have made offers to top players in all age groups. If you didn't get an offer, I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket.

Top player is top 25%? So like five or so players per age group?

Closer to 75% of offers are out. Top teams really only replace a few girls.

This is for 26-27? Do you all play a spring ECNL or is it HS? Crazy that you could get an invite and not play with the team for 6+ months.

FWIW. My DS is on the top team at Arlington and we haven't heard anything nor have we heard of anyone else getting an offer. Also, I have no reason to believe that he won't stay on the top team. I say all that to say, maybe some of this chatter is age and/or gender specific.

Yes for next year's teams. 26-27. The U13/U14 teams run full year for girls. HS Soccer is in the Spring in VA but many teams still train throughout the spring for showcases and playoffs. So, yeah, you may not be joining a team for 6 months.
