ECNL ID Sessions - current players not attending

For us, not in the DMV, current players need to register and attend. However, the ID sessions aren't open to anyone to register. They are invite only so there isn't a huge pool of players there.

Next year is my DD's last year and it will be interesting with the age change. Her current team has a quite a few post 8/1 players that are mixed between being HS sophomores and juniors as their current grade.

Club already has an idea of the roster and it will be larger than what they have been playing with in recent years. Only have had 18 rostered. Next year, DD says there will be 20+, possibly as high as 23. This is due to the current U19 team having some players that are only juniors.

Next year will be a bit of a mess, but it should straighten out in short order.

A small point of clarification. There are open ID sessions where you have to register, but there definitely are plenty of invite only at random times, especially if there's need at a particular position/ag/team etc.

Not soon enough. Parents are concerned that trying out for other teams could negatively affect their child’s status on the current team.
I know every year people say coaches talk, but do you think that is real? I’m trying to picture how that conversation goes and why they would ever do it. Is there any other way they could find out?
hell no. The coach knew when half the team was missing at the same time an id session took place
Coaches aren’t calling each other. Why would a coach call and say your player is here at tryouts. They actually don’t want the current club to know. As soon as the current club knows they start pressuring the kid to stay.
In general coaches find out from parents/players.
So parents and kids are snitching? Shame on the coach for allowing an environment where that could even

So, for those whose son/daughter have switched to a different club, did you let the coach know before you attend ID sessions and received an offer, that you will be leaving the club or did you wait to let the coach know at the end of the spring season (obviously you have an offer by then)?

I would sit tight lipped and if they reach just say we have not decided yet. Let them revoke the offer.

If you kid is exceptional, do not worry about the 24-48 BS. Just decide on your time.
