| Dear god people shut up and go to work they are not closing |
It’s snowing quite a bit near inova on gallows so we’ll see.. |
Schools are NOT going to close because it is snowing a bit. Roads are fine. |
| I don’t think they can cancel atp? It’s already about the time that MS teachers and buses start heading out. |
| Loudoun just closed |
| It’s continuing to snow in my area though? Seems pretty heave too. Idk what they’ll do but it better be before 8:20 (when my MS has to leave) |
DP. Relax everyone. Perhaps allow a teacher to express an opinion without turning it into a teacher bashing event. I suspect the PP’s reference to “self sacrifice” was the suggestion above that teachers shouldn’t use their own leave. That’s all. It was a reference that we expect more of teachers than we do of gatehouse staff. Let a teacher express frustration. You don’t know his/her circumstances. Stop expecting silent compliance and just let that person be human. |
and interestingly they didn’t even caveat it by saying they might open for evening activities which they sometimes do |
| Loudoun got the least amount of snow too. Hilarious! |
| The premise of a delayed opening is not that there will never be snow on the ground or in the air when you or your child have to leave the house. The premise is to get people past the typical morning commute window and spread out traffic. |
| Snow coming down really nicely now. Primary roads are great, secondary roads are not. |
| It's snowing hard where I am in Herndon and the neighborhood streets are completely covered. I'm fine with the kids going to school, it's just really surprising to me. |
I don’t think there is a typical morning commute on these sorts of days. |
Federal government is open with no delay though. |
No, the premise is for bus drivers. Parents of students that drive their kids to schools or have them walk can make the choice if they’re okay with the state of the roads, but bus drivers have to do whatever the county says. The county wants to avoid putting any of their drivers on icy roads with a bus full of children. By delaying, the sun is out and there’s more time for the roads to be cleared. |
