I was home and actually love a 2 hour delay. I'm referring to the people who are always looking for more days off, despite the fact that there are already so many built in, and "much needed downtime" for their kids and themselves. Low energy. |
Ohh I see now, you wrote this post and the one directly above it. Gee another bitter teacher full of resentment towards kids and parents, now there's something we haven't seen! Sorry you had to do your job. Don't worry you have 2 weeks off soon, maybe you can manage until then. |
DP. I spent a small part of this morning reading the reams of garbage logic put up by people who thought that FCPS made a "great call." I can certainly empathize with being tired of hearing empty arguments. You claim too many disruptions this year but I'm not sure where that's coming from. If we had 10 times as many snow days as we've had so far, we'd still have exactly the same number as we've had so far - zero. If zero unplanned disruptions are a threat to our children's health, then your appeal to our sense of children's health doesn't make sense. I'd agree that - to the best of my knowledge - everything turned out ok this morning when the roads were mildly-to-moderately slippery at the time that middle school kids were on their way to school. I'd also agree that for years, there were no incidents at DCA airport despite running military training flights in the same space that civilian aircraft were landing. Not everyone is comfortable waiting for something bad to happen before deciding that there's something to worry about. On the bright side, I do know some parents who told me they were happy to get their free childcare today. |
Not sure how that’s your takeaway. Weather-related issues were pretty widespread throughout the area this morning…much more than, “any disruptions whatsoever.” The PD actually asked us all to stay off the roads if possible. But go ahead and gaslight away… |
Getting out of bed in the morning involves risk. America is clearly on a downward slide with drama llamas like you worried about a non-event. |
Sorry you're too dumb to hold a job! |
^ I mean, see how petty something like what I quoted sounds? If you truly think school is babysitting, mommas, then you need to start homeschooling. PLEASE pull your bratty children out of public school so our well behaved students who want to go to school and who want to succeed in school can get schooling without the distraction of your babies. |
Are your children too dumb for school or something? I can't think of any other reason why mommas would want to keep their children out of school. If you are concerned about the busses being on the roads, KEEP YOUR WHINY BABIES HOME. We don't want them there. It's too disruptive for our children who are succeeding in school. |
| This thread should be preserved for history books as the prime example of the beginning of the end. School should have been canceled today. OPM should have said generous telework. People have lost rational thought. |
Given their free childcare requires them to live in an incredibly expensive area, take hilarious amounts of PTO (if they have it) to support an insane schedule and not even receive particularly good childcare for the bargain I would say FCPS has sure showed them. |

+100 Done and done. Let's move on!! |
Yeah they asked that so that people could get to school and work! And not have to compete on the roads with Nancy and Agnes driving to the senior center and their morning Starbucks. It’s reasonable for people who don’t need to be out to stay home for a bit until conditions improve. I realize everyone got used to kids being put absolutely last during Covid, but kids education needs to be prioritized now. |
Why? People got to work fine. DCPS and MCPS opened on-time without serious problems. |
WRONG! It should only be preserved to showcase how anti-school some people are. |
