Hegseth Ordered Second Strike to Kill Caribbean Boat Survivors

Anonymous
There was an obvious coverup since this only came to light through Washington Post reporting so I assume those involved in covering up the obvious crimes will also be charged with conspiracy. Unfortunately for Trump and Hegseth their credibility has been severely diminished and a bunch of republicans are up for re-election next year.

That’s disgusting, if true. Expect enemy combatants to deliver the same mercy to American troops.

It is not true and PP is not a judge advocate, they just play one on the internet.

It was illegal. These are war crimes. The admiral should have resigned instead of following these orders.

Yes - really a former judge advocate. The boats can absolutely be legitimate military targets. There is no need for a declaration of war to determine something is a legitimate military target. And if the boats and drugs are not destroyed with the first missile, you can fire a second.

Hmm. Should we believe this anonymous DCUM MAGGAT or the military times and the former JAGs that sent a memo declaring that these were war crimes?

A group of former military lawyers issued a memo Saturday condemning Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth for allegedly ordering a special operations commander and military personnel to kill everybody aboard an alleged drug-carrying vessel on Sept. 2.

These right-leaning individuals have also questioned the legality of Hegseth’s orders.

- Sen. Roger Wicker (R-MS): As chair of the Senate Armed Services Committee

- Rep. Mike Rogers (R-AL): Chair of the House Armed Services Committee

- Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE): A veteran and Armed Services Committee member

- Bret Baier (Fox News): res anchor

- John Fund (National Review): The conservative columnist and editor-at-large

ok, that's all and good, but give on on trying to find a technicality that is going to cause Trump's demise--this strategy is not going to work.

This isn’t about trying to cause Trump’s demise.

Following his release in 1974, Lieutenant William Calley moved to GA, and lived a regular life. He stayed out of the public eye and worked at a store.

The former war criminal died in a Florida hospice last year, after his 80th birthday.

Who else was held to account after the ongoing conflict in/around Vietnam. Can we name them?

Calley served barely any time behind bars, he was under house arrest most of the time he was technically in custody. According to Wikipedia news media didn't even know he was dead for 3 months, and his death certificate says he had no military service.
I happened to look him up a couple of days ago. There were 10 or so other soldiers that I believe were never charged at all.
It's dispiriting how loathe we are to actually act on war crimes. Seemed like we got a tiny bit better with the 9-11 wars but between pardons and the Gallagher seal reinstatement and godawful Hegseth, we are now publicly not caring at all (not just about the boats, Hegseth wiping out a lot of rules pertaining to engagement and use of force. I think the people I most loathe in the administration are that pissant and Leavitt.

The only thing or person that can cause Trump‘s demise is Trump himself. He is literally his worst enemy. He f’s up everything he touches eventually. By the time he’s done, he will destroy the GOP for a long time to come.

So depressing. One of the many stains on our national soul. If you haven't heard of the My Lai massacre, now is a perfect time to read up on it. Some stats:

American troops "just following orders"

*killed 347–504 Vietnamese civilians--most were women, children, and elderly. (The lower count is that of the US government).
*used M16s and machine guns to mow down civilians and threw grenades into homes and bunkers
*raped and sexually assaulted dozens of girls and women
*mutilated bodies (genitals cut off, scalps taken)
*killed babies and children at close range, some thrown into mass graves while still alive

And here's a photo:

Lol ok , drug runner terrorists vs civilians, nice troll

It's not a "troll." It's a cautionary tale about what can happen when our military "just follows orders."

PS. We STILL haven't been shown the evidence that the people killed by our military in the Caribbean are actual "drug runner terrorists." And, even if they all were, why not capture them and try them instead of outright killing them? If captured alive, they might offer high-value intelligence to aid in capturing people higher up.

That flag officer who quietly resigned a few months ago knew the orders were illegal, and wanted to get out of an impossible situation.

I would have such respect if he came forward now.

Clearly, Hegseth is about to throw the commander of special forces under the bus.

The first time one of these attacks yielded survivors, I KNEW the administration would make sure that never happened again.

Loose ends are perceived as messy when you are overseeing extrajudicial murders.

Well, electrical currents can been used to stop boats. It’s dangerous. However, non-lethal systems can project electrical fields into the water. It to disables the boat's engine and steering. Then the passengers can be stranded and then eventually taken aboard another vessel — or something. I’ve been on the waters off of Ecuador and there are islands around there. Plenty of places to stage operations. It’s more expensive (?) but I would rather pay for that than what we are doing now.

In the past, I thought my country was only killing high value targets. They would say who and what and we would hear from the seals who conducted the operation. Now I have no idea.

I don’t like one bit.

Lot more stuff to come out with other incidents. Brace yourselves.

Lemme guess: Adam Schiff has a smoking gun? Clapper & Brennan smell Russian disinformation? Liz Warren has evidence one of the speed boaters that got blown up had high cheekbones?

MAGA, you must've been impressed with Whiskey Pete's "the buck stops with me" play acting when if anyone had a problem with the attack, they could damn-well deal with him.

But now Pete wants us to know he "supports" the admiral who (Pete now says) ordered the attack. "I stand by him and the combat decisions he made on Sept. 2"

And here it is. Trump and Hegseth claiming they didn’t know about the second strike. But somehow the Washington Post did. How dumb do they think we are? The CNN headline is: “Trump says he and Hegseth did not know about second strike on alleged drug boat”

Yes. It’s always the coverup not the crime. And this is a particularly sheer coverup.

Then there needs to be an investigation on the American servicemen who conducted this attack without the proper authorization.

I watch A LOT of Narcos. Zero (0) times have I seen Pablo Escobar in a boat, in a car, or on a bike giving chase. (I think).

If I were a writer, I would place my character in a speed boat in a chase. Unless that concept is crazy!

Also, I learned there are drug tunnels under the U.S. or nearby. The tunnels see dirt bikes and other small vehicles. Why don’t we blow those up? Are we blowing up the product? The people collateral right ?? Either way I am unclear
