Your daily reminder:

ND > GU > BC > Villanova > HC > the rest

HC is a great school, but these boosters try to paint it as something it is not....especially a football school. That's ND's department.

Agree about one thing HC is a great school. No one cares about Villanova ranked close to 55-60 in US News. BC is the Catholic commuter school that benefits by being in Boston. Marquette another former commuter school isn’t as fortunate being in Milwaukee. Undeniable Holy Cross has the prestige that BC and Nova will never have. Harvard would beat BC in football this year but their older WASPy alums would never want to play them.

Villanova has fallen off a cliff with 2026 ranking of 57th horrible. Penn State is 59 and half the cost with a better atmosphere.

Who the heck would chose Worcester over Chestnut Hill, unless they just couldn't get admitted to BC...sorry!

You have to be a moron to get denied by BC

The residents of Chestnut Hill have rejected that commuter school for over 100 years!

Holy Cross is a hidden gem. Very good academics, beautiful campus, normal kids that love the school but the differentiation is the job outcomesl. Top 5 alumni network that provides summer internships, mentoring and placement by industry. AS pp have mentioned they bring back successful women grads to campus for conferences and built women in business network lots of female CEOs and c suite people.

^+1. The current HC Board of Trustees chairperson is a woman. Their relatively new President is an African-American male with 2 Ivy degrees. Doubt many other top schools have that diversity. Holy Cross is very popular in our affluent town but they like demonstrated interest.

It's a good school, but Worcester is just kind of bleak.

Elevate HC to a very good school similar to Colgate and Davidson. Davidson benefits by being only top SLAC in its region while Holy Cross is surrounded by NESCAC schools. At 3,300 enrollment it is one of the largest liberal arts schools.

HC is a mini version of Duke great academics, sports, and boastful alumni. Duke is significantly more prestigious and harder to get in 4% vs 16% at Holy Cross. The campus vibes are similar kids love their respective school and place well in job market. Also both are highly pre-professional great premed programs. The name Holy Cross might be a negative for sone but know several non Catholic grads who thrived there.

It feels like there are more duke alums in back bay than holy cross

Tbf dukies are targets for Bain cap and the other pe firms in back bay so that’s probably why

And catholic school grads probably are more suburban in mindset
