It's like the NEU nutjobs all over again. Coincidence it's the same part of the country? What's next, UMass Amherst is the best college in Amherst?

For Linguistics? Absolutely. Just like Holy Cross is the best college in Massachusetts for Classics.

AI: “There is no single "best" college, but top options for Classics in Massachusetts include University of Massachusetts Amherst, which offers a comprehensive program with three concentrations, and Boston College, with its interdisciplinary focus and graduate programs. Other strong programs are available at liberal arts schools like Wheaton College and Wellesley College.”

I would place Holy Cross within the top five in Massachusetts for classics, and arguably toward the higher end of this group.

I heard it has a pipeline to ancient Rome.

Acceptance data from my daughter's Catholic HS for last 3 years:

Overall: 58%

Early Decision: 100%

Regular Decision: 52%

Pretty much a sure admit for students applying ED and students applying RD with halfway decent stats and some level of demonstrated interest. It's considered a safety for my kid. She visited as a side trip when she visited BC. She thought it was nice enough, but small and limiting. It's a good backup!

Holy Cross is a great LAC with very long stable of distinguished alums, Would rank it behind Williams, Amherst, and Wellesley in Mass. Place it 15-20 Nationally among SLAC schools. Among Catholic families, top 3 destinstion. Applied but wanted s larger University.

HC is a good choice for families seeking a moderate political vibe. Fits our preference but school is now very popular. Will apply early.

Based on this, I would throw out EduRank as a credible source.

Who pays $80k for Classics? Students can become a barista without 4 years of Latin classes.
