James Comey Indictment

Anonymous
“My family and I have long understood that standing up to Donald Trump comes with a cost,” Comey said in a video. It’s a sentiment many of us know too well because sooner or later, the monster comes for us all.

Comey is a first class jerk and he single handedly gave the 2016 election to Trump and for this he should be drawn and quartered, tarred and feathered and run away out of town on a rail.

True to form a grand jury has indicted a hsm sandwich and it will be dismissed with prejudice and rotten egg all.over the MAGA DOJ and Trump's ugly repulsive reptilian face.

I hope Comey comes back and sues the whole effing pack of MAGA whores and their pimp.

I believe this requires a SWAT Team Storm his house in full Battle Rattle at 0300 hours and perp walk.

You know.... just returning the favor!

If true, how does this affect the case?

Not at all. They are within the time limit.

But a grand jury indicted. I know the litmus test isn’t as stringent as a verdict, but still.

A grand jury is a majority vote.
A conviction jury is unanimous.
A grand jury has no defense, and the prosecution can lie.
A conviction jury hears a defense.

This is a political farce. The "litmus test" is that DOJ was able to assemble a MAGA majority for the grand jury.

Grand jury indictments are designed to threaten and frighten people into gambling with their freedom and ultimately into taking a plea, regardless of the individual’s innocence. Prosecutors stack charges and ask at least 23 people to believe their uncontested double hearsay evidence and issue an indictment. The prosecutors then take an indictment of four charges and tell the accused to plead guilty to two of the charges or spend thousands in legal fees and an ultimate penalty of decades/life of imprisonment. Yeah, what do you think many people do with those odds. Many innocent people succumb due to the overwhelmed odds of the weight of the prosecutor’s office. And it doesn’t help that prosecutors have enormous resources and absolutely nothing to lose if they withhold exculpatory evidence.

Meanwhile, it’s your test case for ramping up the weaponized DOJ.

Sigh.

As a Democrat who is terrified that we have reached a tipping point when it comes to the rule of law and our democracy, I’m praying that perhaps the Republicans will finally reach their tipping point and start pushing back since one of their own is impacted.

Are you kidding. Trump told them that Comey is their enemy, so they don’t consider him one of their own. Comey is no-man’s land. He helped usher Trump into office and then didn’t bend the knee.

This case will never make it to trial, but I'm genuinely curious what evidence they presented that Comey lied to Congress. The alleged lie is that Comey said he "had not 'authorized someone else at the FBI to be an anonymous source in news reports' regarding an FBI investigation concerning PERSON 1." For those who don't know, this allegation is that Comey authorized Andrew McCabe (then Deputy FBI Director) to leak a story to the WSJ in fall 2016 about an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. This incident has been investigated ad nauseum, including by DOJ IG Horowitz who is so in the bag for Trump that he's one of the very few IGs Trump didn't fire when he was fired a dozen IGs earlier this year. Comey's story has always been the he didn't authorize the leak and didn't know about it until after the article was published McCabe's story has always been that he leaked without Comey's prior authorization, but told Comey about it after the fact and Comey was supportive. The DOJ IG concluded that Comey was telling the truth and McCabe wasn't. But even if you believe McCabe, Comey still didn't authorize the leak. And the DOJ IG report doesn't mention anyone else who said Comey did authorize it.

But of course, cannot deny the reality that democrats used lawfare against Trump. Or were those lawsuits legit? Depends on which side of the aisle you sit.

We’re just going to devolve into this tit for tat.

Please do not “both sides” this thing. That’s very dangerous. It’s how we got here to begin with.

I’ve read all nine pages, no one should be ok with what is happening here. That should be distinguished from folks on here remarking on the irony that the guy who very likely changed the course of the 2016 election is now reaping what he sowed.

Nope. It is a both sides thing. And Trump is using all of what Dems have used or done, against the Dems themselves. (Cancel culture, hate speech is not free speech, lawfare, etc). Democrats have got to take responsibility for their part they played in the whole mess. Democrats opened the door.

Don’t be surprised if he decided to disarm the populace using the progressive democrats arguments from previous years.

It would be in the democrats and countries best interest to go over the last decade and see what else Trump will use.

But in order to do that, democrats must accept the responsibility for the part they played.

Yada yada yada. Just atop with the Bull SHAT.

As soon as republicans start saying democrats did it first, I know they have no justification for what they are doing.

I don’t know what this has to do with democrats anyway. James Comey is and always has been a republican.

The lawfare Dems committed against Trump (perceived lawfare)

It’s not about blaming democrats or accusing Dems of doing it first. It’s about that any entity did it first. Once you do it or demand it or make it ok, you make it ok for others, not just your side. It’s about setting precedent. Once something is done once it’s easier to do the subsequent times.

Democrats are getting blamed for doing it first because they did it first. But it’s truly about precedent.

Comey is going to turn himself on like a normal person. Trump brought all of that on himself for not cooperating with the National Archives in the first place.

Because he’s not willing to work for the new politically loyal and unqualified attorney that the traitor in chief just appointed to help destroy our country. Damn straight.
