Can you cite a source for these figures?

104 murders now as of September 2, per MPD:

https://mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime

The 101 figure is off by 1. There were 100 murders as of August 11, 2025, the day before the guard was deployed:

https://www.aol.com/dc-100th-homicide-puts-popular-161505436.html

That’s 4 murders from August 12 - September 2 in a city that saw 100 homicides between January 1 and August 11, around a 14 murders/month average. It’s around a 300% decrease in the murder rate.

OMFG!!!! A 300% DECREASE IN MURDER?! We MUST PROTEST NOOOOWWWW!

What was wrong with the old murder rate?

Stupid trump, saving the lives of all those young Black males.

If any other Administration put troops in the street - for any reason, let alone "street crime" - right wing voters and media personalities would absolutely freak out about government takeover. It's astonishing how weak-willed and gullible those same people are when Trump so blatantly drags us towards authoritarianism. You are not standing up for the Constitution, Republicanism, limited government - on the contrary, you're dragging it down with Trump.

That's what these protests are. It's not about the murder rate. It's about standing up for the principles that you USED to believe in.

The protests are useful in letting people know that others are not OK with the US's descent into authoritarianism.

+1

Literally they are protesting troops in DC who are sweeping anyone not white enough off the streets. Geez, open your eyes people.

I love coming here for the hyperbole and flat-out lies. Always so entertaining.

You should have been protesting the high DC murder rate instead of deflecting and minimizing the actual numbers.

I thought the NG was just standing around doing nothing? Which is it?

FBI, DHS, alphabet soup

You need to reprogram your bot then.

You need to open your eyes and perhaps get counseling to address your anxiety.

I’m not the one butt hurt about the NG in DC.

It was amazing! Lots of positive energy. Very diverse, in age and race. Curious the numbers but regardless, nice to see people care.

"Caring" and effective activity are not necessarily the same thing.

+1. And if all you have is "positive energy," whatever the hell that is, I'm not sure what was accomplished. Except that you can all pat yourselves on the back and ensure that you get in your 10,000 steps today.

I know protesting is not enough, but it’s still important and a lot of people showed up. We are the majority not MAGA.

You might be the majority in DC but not in the USA. I'm not s maga voter, but we need to be tougher with criminals.

We need to put rapists and traffickers of children in prison. Starting with the occupant of the White House.

You know who truly lost their freedom? The innocent victims who died at the hands of folks who committed crimes.

+1 million!

You mean like the Capital police harmed by the J6-ers. How about the National Guard go round them back up and put them back where they belong off the streets.

MAGA loves criminals as long as they are Trump fans. Hypocrite.

^ 100% a maga voter.

Nope. Not at all. Voted for Harris. Still think we need to be tougher with criminals. Why don't you?

I mean like the murder of this sweet, beautiful girl whose killer was out on bail despite his violent past. You should read about Aniah Blanchard.

Again, this occupation has done NOTHING to solve crime. Sure, it’s a temporary band aid but we’d be much better off with getting our ONE BILLION DOLLARS returned to us so we could address public safety, which was going down. All cities have crime, we all want it better addressed, but this is all just a pretext to allow ICE to roam the streets with impunity. I don’t want to live in a country where jackbooted thugs are indiscriminately kidnapping people.

I think the moral of this story is that two wrongs don't make a right.

For the bazillionth time you autocracy-loving moron. Everyone would like to see crime go down everywhere! Gee, what an idea. But the purpose of the military in this country is NOT to police the streets. That is the job of local law enforcement. You want to go out and lobby for better laws or more help for law enforcement, have at it. You want military policing the streets, go move to North Korea so we don't have to deal with your stupid ass.

Yes, let's start with the corrupt administration full of rapists.
