Plenty of arrests say otherwise. |
Using number of arrests as a metric incentivizes the police to arrest as many people as possible. Not to address violent crime. |

As of August 29, there have been 2 homicides since the National Guard came in. Previously, there were 101 murders since the start of the year.
That is a measurable improvement. At that rate, DC would have 36 murders or less a year with this type of enforcement presence. That would be BY FAR a record low for the city in recorded history. Those are Black lives that are being saved. Do those lives matter to you or not? Because by protesting increased enforcement you are de facto advocating an increase in Black deaths. |
+1 Excellent idea! End law enforcement now! |
Again, for those slow to comprehend. There are 103 recorded murders in the city as of August 29. There were 101 when Trump sent in the Guard and the FBI. On top of that, it’s August and the summer is notoriously worse for murders than colder months like February. This move has DRAMATICALLY reduced murders to a level that has never been seen in this city in recorded history. That’s fact, not hyperbole. Show me a month where there were 4 murders in DC, especially in the summer, since 1950. Prove me wrong. https://mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime |
This sounds like an argument for the guard to leave and for Congress to reinstate the $1 billion that they took out of DC government. Or are you advocating for the guard to be here permanently? |
| I see the Democrats are LARPing again. |
| Should the National Guard police DC from now on? |
I think the point is that the government isn’t overstepping its authority because it’s a federal district. |
Will DC’s government handle murders with this money like they did in 2023, 2024, and in 2025 up until the Guard did? Because their track record for curtailing murders is not good at all. 274 murders in 2023, 187 in 2024, and 101 murders in 2025 until August 12 when the Guard showed up. There have been 2 murders between August 12 and August 29. At this rate there would be between 36 and 48 murders a year. DC was nowhere close to that with the $1 billion it was getting. According to posters, the feds are doing it with $1 million a day. I care about not having people get murdered. This seems to be getting the job done. Sorry. Stats: https://mpdc.dc.gov/dailycrime |
As long as the arrests are for illegal conduct, whether littering, vandalism, reckless driving, carjacking, drug offenses or homicide, it's all good. Broken windows. |

Is it true the all-democrat DC Council removed all mandatory minimums for sentencing criminal activity in November of 2022?
