We are from the NE and my kids seem so focused on selective colleges paying $90k a year. Meanwhile, these kids all seem to prefer going to FL state schools on bright futures scholarships and then going to med schools.

USF has a BS/MD program and offers a full ride to NMF OOS for the BS portion.

Are you sure about that? The full ride offered to NMF at Florida public schools through bright futures was taken away away couple years ago and only available for in-state.

For OOS it’s not tied to Bright Futures

NON-Florida residents (as determined by the institution)

Scholarship covering your full cost of attendance during fall and spring semesters as determined by the USF Golden Achievement Program. This merit scholarship is for high school graduates who achieve the National Merit® Scholar Finalist designation (finalist who select USF as their first choice school with NMSC) and covers 100 percent of the cost of attendance, minus the amount that you receive from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. If you qualify for this award, it will replace all other awards from the Office of Admissions.

Scholarship options for study abroad (USF Passport Scholarship - $2,000)

That’s a good deal then!

"true for a 4.0/528/nothing else premed - they will be rejected everywhere."

True. Med schools admission is so competitive that they are looking to reject applicants. The "nothing else" will certainly result in rejection. It requires more than GPA/MCAT to get in.
