Where are you getting your Alabama figures.

Research says it was 76% for Fall 2024 admission.

Looks like we have an Alabama booster. Acceptance rates are misleading because UGA has a stronger profile than Clemson.

Will smart kids from the Northeast continue to "flock" to this hellscape?

Yes! And so few Jews to harass down south!

Have you visited Tulane?

Oh on your street. So you guys are the intellectual kings. Smart kids are going where they will be happy and also where they may receive a free education on merit money down south. No one cares about Ivy anymore. It is a down brand.

No one cares about Ivy? Bwaaaaaahhhhhhh have you actually spent time on this board? lol

Yeah, the middle aged Asian dads in this site care A LOT! Especially remedial math at Harvard guy!

Can’t assume they’re Asian. Asian parent here and some of us have kids who aren’t tracked for Multivariable calculus in high school.

Some Asian parents have kids at SEC schools.

Vanderbilt is very Asian now.

Vanderbilt has been very Asian for a long time. This isn’t new.

Disagree. It’s warm weather, big sports that unite a student body, work/life balance and the pull of a slower pace after getting burned out in the rat race of high school in the Northeast. Oh at let’s not forget cost…these schools offer great merit money to high performing kids.

Again, after the high performing kids who are a small percentage of the school, who are you left with? C'mon- even HS kids know this. The 2 girls I know who applied and got accepted to Alabama from our HS are C students who are best friends. They committed to West Virginia because it was closer.

Cs get degrees! But seriously, this is such a snobby take. There are all kinds of people in the world and college is a good time to meet people outside your normal bubble.

All top 20s are very Asian, except maybe Notre Dame.

Is that a reason kids are moving to SEC schools?

SEC schools are surprisingly diverse. The South is booming and drawing many immigrants who might have settled in the Northeast or California a generation ago. The students demographics and culture are starting to reflect this.

No. Most students applying to the top 20 or so schools are looking for the best school for them. And these schools often have a lot of students with a east asia or south asia background. No one is saying no to Vanderbilt or similar because there are too many asian students. In fact, I'd say schools that have above average numbers are more desirable because they are more focused on talent rather than the particulars of their demographics.

I don’t think that’s surprising at all. The South is very diverse so of course it’s universities are too.

Georgia kids who lack the grades for UGA often go to Alabama, Kentucky, or Tennessee.
