How many people have you directly supervised?
How big of a budget have you managed?
Your last job was as a weekend tee vee host, can you explain to me what skills are transferable, if any?

I mean it's great that Senators are pointing out his drinking and abuse but where are the questions asking about his qualifications? Make him explain!

There have been “more qualified” people that have done a terrible job as SoD. Not sure what you consider a qualification matters at all. The number one qualification here is the President thinks you can do it and asks.

They both work for us Dummy.

Our tax dollars pay them.

What’s your point? We elected a Trump and he appointed Hegseth. That’s how this works.

But do you know the damage he can do in the meantime ? Like promoting people who are yes men instead of professional officers (who are loyal to the Constitution).

And trust me, there are a lot of cowardly people in the DoD who will do anything to please the guy they report to,

We'll see. Hegseth is a f'up. He mismanaged two nonprofits with a dozen or fewer staff and he has a weak character. He simply will not be up to the task of managing the military. What he will be good at is stirring up cultural wars and getting air time. That's what Trump primarily chose him for. The DoD is an enormous institution with its own culture and priorities and doesn't like to be told what to do; it will find ways to resist this sec of defense the way it has resisted all the past ones.

The main job of the Secretary of Defense is to manage the massive DOD bureaucracy. He doesn’t boss the military. He doesn’t make foreign or domestic policy. He has a schedule full of meetings and phone calls and bureaucratic drudgery.

He’s not qualified

Reminds me when my college ROTC son came home complaining about having to carry a female's rucksack in a training event. She was holding back the platoon. There may be a place for her in the military, but it would not be in ground combat.

Exactly.

Now he's letting the guy explain his white supremacist tattoo.

Wasn’t that the same type of cross that was on Carter’s funeral handout?

Indeed, it was. Democrats don’t have a clue.

Oh! So Hesgeth is a priest! Got it. Glad you've cleared that up for us.

Now do the other tattoo...

Why are Democrats so fixated on his tattoos? Can’t find anything better?

Not a Democrat but I am aware that our military has a significant problem with Christian extremism. Including this guy.

Other arm has We the People tattooed on it. Not a word on that though.

What was the point of his confirmation hearing? He could literally murder someone on the senate floor and they’d confirm him. That’s where we are these days.

Yes, absolutely. My point was he is also completely unsuited to what is first and foremost a bureaucratic job. He and Trump seem to think SECDEF has all sorts of discretionary authority over the military services. He doesn’t.

He will use the military as a police force here against us
