Providence is a *much* nicer city than New Haven. |
All true, but Yale is still leagues (no pun intended) above Brown. |
Disagree. Also, just posting that was idiotic and useless. They are comparable schools with one ranked slightly higher by a certain set of criteria. Share concrete experiences and let each decide for themselves. Mine chose Brown. |
I did because of a specific financial situation and never regretted. Went to MIT for grad school, I'm doing fine professionally. Brown has a really good CS program and great alumni network in SV. If you want finance, go for upenn or Princeton. Both Y and B are packed with elitist trust fund babies from all over the world and both towns are boring as h* but it doesn't matter, because everyone stays on campus. |
Any thoughts on Brown engineering, both the program[s] and outcomes? |
Have heard this many times. Wes gives very good financial aid packages. |
Not true. These two schools are often compared and considered in the same league by people in my circle-- who went there are who send their kids there. |
NP. Mine chose Brown over Yale. |
Excellent, especially the smaller departments. |

Career outcomes areon the website: kind of meh compared to the other ivies but still better than publics ranked aroud 8-10 or worse in engineering |
Leagues ahead? I don't know about that. Brown is sort of having a moment right now. This gen Z crowd seems to really like what brown has to offer. I don't know if it will accelerate, or die off, but right now brown is very popular among the same crowd that might have been attracted to yale a generation ago. I thought requiring test scores would hurt brown among that crowd but it doesn't seem to have hurt them. |
mine chose HYP over Brown. loved the idea of Brown, but couldn't turn down HYP. Has recently graduated and doesn't regret their choice. |
Brown is seen as a bit of an off-ramp compared to the more overt competitiveness of some other Ivies, but Brown parents are the ultimate try-hards. |
I think it seems that way on here because it gets brought up a lot. I seem to notice Brown, Chicago, Yale getting chatted about the most, negative and positive, people love to comment on them. |
It is extremely popular with young women but I don't know why. What does it have that other schools don't? |
