This is what I was thinking. Whether you like her or not she is not some weakling who can’t tolerate sitting next to people she doesn’t like for a couple of hours, especially for a funeral. Something isn’t right, either she or a family member is sick, or they are getting divorced.

NP here. I wondered if she and Barack weren't comfortable being in the same room at such a high-profile event when the Secret Service has proven themselves incompetent lately, for the sake of their children. I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone suggest that.

There have been rumors about the Obamas marriage being on the rocks in the past, but I think it's more that she seriously cannot stomach another Trump presidency and has simply chosen not to attend.

It’s her birthday this Friday. Curious if there will be pictures of her celebrating…and where…and with whom, etc.

If she were sick, it’s doubtful she would be in Hawaii receiving medical care. She could be recovering there though.

January 20 is a holiday. MLK Day. What an insult to Dr King. My family will be gone from the DC area for the three day weekend. I can’t shake the idea that there will be violence from the far right. This the crux of the whole thing. Stop being horrified when a Democrat does something that MAGA does on the regular with no consequences. Yes, Dems are more civil and normal than MAGAs, but these are not normal times. Dems have to start doing what it takes to bring MAGA down.
