This man has received NUMEROUS accalades as one of the best principals in MoCo over 20+ years and it is absolutely disguesting that people would defame his character with evidence-free allegations and speculation. Do better parents.

And yet MCPS demoted him from Principal to AP. So that signals MCPS does not hold him blameless in the situation.

Negotiated settlements happen all the time. If there was ANY evidence demonstrating actual physical contact with that child there is not a chance in hell any MoCo BoE lawyer or adminstrator would ever allow him to step foot in a school again. Engage your brains people.

Right. And the reason he accepted a demotion and engaged in a negotiated settlement with MCPS is because there's a tacit admission of wrongdoing on his part. If he was truly innocent and blameless, why would he accept the demotion?

Can you deny a demotion from your boss?

Being acquitted does not mean something questionable happened. Just because a court didn't convict him doesn't mean he should be working with kids. I would not want him with my kids.

Uh, yes. People fight demotions and wrongful terminations all the time.

How is anyone arguing with a straight face that MCPS doesn't allow known predators and abusers around children?

You are really disgusting for posting this.

Well that is a wrong. John Vigna was caught multiple times with little girls on his lap and Joshua Starr was happy to keep him in the classroom unsupervised because he said he wasn't going to do it again. That is in writing, not a rumor.
MCPS has no such ultimatum about protecting children.

We are assuming it’s a demotion but it very well could be that there are no principalships available at this time and they put him into an assistant principal position for the remainder of the school year or maybe after going through a trial he didn’t want the responsibility to be a principal. People here just make up things with no evidence of facts. So sad!

The only facts are that he was absolutely, clearly and unequivocally exonerated from the bogus charge that cost him his job. Why anyone would want to work for this company is astonishing to me.

I have seen the video and while it shows a stomp of the foot it does not show any contact with the students foot. As for the grabbing of the hood, the child is not yanked or comes off his feet he is just guided to his seat.

We need to stop crucifying this guy. He was acquitted and cleared to return to work by MCPS. There is no history of complaints on him according to MCPS. Interesting that parents are now saying things happened 5-15 years ago.

This all needs to stop and let the guy return to work.

Andrew was the one who helped me get out of a school where a principal WAS ACTUALLY a bully, to the point where several teachers left during the school and the end of the year. It's funny to me that that admin has never been investigated.

Is he perfect? No, no one is. But he does care about students and I have seen him go out of his way to plan events and programs to make the school community fun for kids, only to be met with negativity from some staff about why those things couldn't be done. He led his previous school to earning a Maryland Blue Ribbon, again leading his staff to do data analysis and really boost supports for struggling students -- again met with negativity by some staff who did not want to do those things and complained about it every chance they could get. How do I know? I saw it and those who complained were so loud and overbearing that they overpowered those of us who had good experiences with Andrew. Give him a chance before you write him off, sheesh.

I also have worked with Mr. Winter and he was by far one of the hardest working principals I have had and extremely supportive of students and staff. People are tearing him down and it's just not right. This is a long time dedicated educator who has done some great things in his schools. I wish he was still at Barnsley with us as who followed him has created issues for many of the staff and families. He cares greatly about students, his staff, and his community.

Until the video is made public I just don't buy what people post here. There is clearly a coordinated and deceptive campaign to defend him. The news reports describing the video are pretty damning. I don't know wtf you are.

Um. The AP was not a minority…why did you think she was?

Quite the contrary. It sounds like the exact opposite given that he was cleared of wrongdoing.
