The AP this petition mentions is the same one who had charges filed against him for harming a child which was caught on video last school year when he was principal of another school . He was acquitted and now apparently is being allowed back to mcps but as an AP. Petition linked here :

As a parent with 3 kids who went to RCV (youngest finished in 2017), this really upsets me about how the school is still..
|
| This is the principal who stomped on the foot of a special needs child? |
| He was accused of stomping his foot on a child but acquitted in court without having to put on a defense. Not having to put on a defense is extremely rare and shows how there was no evidence it happened and the witnesses lacked credibility. This includes the video that does not show that any contact was made. |

Be happy there is an administrator who is willing to not let kids do whatever they want. It appears that some parents get upset when their children cant do whatever they want whenever they want to.
News reports indicate During the trial, several people testified that the student had difficulties staying in class for long periods and would often get up to walk around the school. On the day of the incident, the student left the cafeteria several times. During a roughly five-hour bench trial, Montgomery County Circuit Judge Sharon Burrell said the student was inconsistent in his testimony and that he showed no outward signs of pain in the video. She said the state didn’t prove whether the student was upset because his foot was stomped on or if it was because he was scared or upset about having to do something he didn’t want to do. There wasn’t even enough evidence to continue the trial. He was NOT acquitted, the case was so weak the judge dismissed the case. |
| This is him. My child attends RCV and I’m disgusted mcps thinks it’s ok to send him here. He should be in central office away from children if the county insists on rehiring him. Hr clearly can’t manage his emotions around vulnerable small children and that alarms me. |
| Just because there is not enough evidence to convict him does not convince me that he should be around small children. |

I do fully admit to not knowing all of the details but let's make sure we are not jumping on a bandwagon for a person who was wrongly accused.
He was acquitted and staff at Ritchie Park said that the whole thing was overblown and fishy. It was also started because the AP called her husband about how to handle it- and he just happened to be a police officer. So many things seem off in this case. It seems like you are trying to drag a person down when it actually might be the county that is at fault. |
+1 he was charged but not convicted? Charged were dropped? |
There is no world where effective “discipline “ involves grabbing a child by the clothing and stomping on their foot. This man is not able to self regulate and lost control of himself and it was caught on camera. Teachers have been fired for less. I don’t blame the community at Rock Creek Valley ES one bit. Seems he will have a hard time acclimating there |

Even if it’s not true? |
The video. Speaks for itself |
+1 |
The video wasn't even enough to convince the judge to continue the trial. Did you see a video different from the judge's (genuinely asking)? |
