DP. Idiots? Israel has almost singlehandedly reworked the ME in a way that benefits the US. Iran and its proxies have been dramatically weakened, Russia's bases in Syria (from which it projects influence throughout the region and into Africa) are in jeopardy, and both countries are now seen as unreliable and weak allies. This all redounds massively to our benefit. And it's almost wholly the result of Israel's actions. High cost in civilian lives? Absolutely, perhaps unacceptably so. But let's not be dishonest about the results: the US is in a far better position than we were a year ago. |
We just don’t know if we are better off.
US just started bombing ISIS. We have seen this movie before in Iraq and Libya. |
Correct re: Syria. However, our adversaries (Russia and Iran) are clearly worse off. That's a win for the US. |
How are they all taking land? By putting men there to guard it? F them greedy pigs, Syria will get it back. |
Spoken like someone who thinks life can only exist as a warped, real life version of RISK. Most likely because you’re one of the countless drones who rely on global conflict to feather your nest. Back here in reality, the only upside of the “high cost in civilian lives” is the certainty that removing these boogeyman adversaries from the board will eventually remove all doubt as to the actual sources of evil across the globe … All of these developments have created quite a conundrum for Israel - seize the opportunity to eliminate boogeymen from the safety of F-35s high in the sky (yay!), but then who are we left to blame for our sustained malignant conduct in the region (ruh roh)? |
Probably because this is the third country Israel has invaded just this year. Its funny how we had to stop Putin before he could invade any more countries, but we literally have Bibi working on his third country while everyone claps and sends him money. |
Lolol!! Israel alone did this single handedly. Nothing at all to do with Iran, Turkey, Russia or the US. dumb*ss. |
is this what you actually believe happened in Syria? |
Its all over the news, are you trying to insinuate in some completely dishonest way that Israel has stayed on its side of the border? https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c77jrrxxn07o |
Seeing as the rebel forces who have supplanted the Assad regime are a coalition of various Islamist groups, Syria has exchanged one form of tyrany for another. |
Has Turkey stayed on its side of the border? And are you under the impression that Israel toppled Assad? Would that be good or bad in your book? |
Wait I thought Israel took over Syria. what are you trying to insinuate? |
Exactly. One dysfunctional, corrupt, and evil system is being replaced by another, albeit with fundamentalist religious underpinning. What's worse, the religious character of the replacement regime may be more expansionist than what it replaced, eventually seeking to export its brand of fundamentalism byond Syria's borders. |
Huh. You seem upset that Russia and Iran have lost influence and ability to project force across the ME (and beyond, in Russia's case). Strange. |
