What will be the next demographic shakeup in electoral politics?

Just like Trump destroyed this country in 2016 when he was president? I think not.

Well, the R's did lose pretty big in the midterms.

Rep Seth Moulton has been attacked mercilessly for coming out against trans athletes in womens sports despite his opinion being that of the majority. There are now calls for his resignation or to primary him. Progressives seem to hate free speech these days which can turnoff the general public. I also dont think the left will help themselves running to echo chambers like bluesky.
Trump is a moderate in most respects with similar policies to those Bill Clinton held with a touch of Ross
Perot populism thrown in and a dash of isolation in.

Moulton’s campaign manager resigned immediately, which goes to a structural problem in the party. If you think your career is at risk because your candidate espoused a position that 75% of Americans agree with, that is a serious problem structurally.

Trans men in women sports is the bill I died on. After a life long Dem I did not vote for the presidency this year. I could not vote for a party that wants me to think a man should be on an woman’s team. They can do co ed sports if they want to compete against men and women.

Okay, but the Democrats don't support this. Name one Democratic official who spoke out on this issue.

Well, who is calling for his resignation and why are people talking about primarying him?

Oh. That's right. Democrats.

Democrats put trans rights ahead of the rights of 50% of the population and put trans concerns ahead of the concerns of 99% of the population

Fake news. Shove your BS propaganda up your bigoted a-hole.

No, true story.
The Democratic priorities seem to be:

Trans athletes over female athletes
Trans women in female spaces
Pronouns
LatinX
Everyone is racist

I have been talking to the Hispanic men who own small I use all the time. The older men voted for Harris. the younger men, including the son of one of the older men, voted for Trump. Why? All about the economy and how smart these kids are. One told me about his friend who started to work in a hotel during the pandemic when no one else wanted to work there. He sanitized the rooms that were used. The manager saw how well he did and continued to promote him. He is now the front end manager of the hotel and back in a local college finishing his undergrad degree. Another started a type of cleaning company when he finished high school in 2016 and it became very popular during the pandemic. He had too much business and could hire people to work for him. He sold it to a larger company, took the money, finished a degree and then bought back his company. All voted for Trump because they thought he would be best for the economy.

These are some of the "demographic" that voted for Trump. Not a fan of Trump and did not vote for him, but you asked who did.

Anyone who voted for Trump based on the economy is not really "smart". That shows a complete lack of understanding of all the forces that impact the economy and the negative impacts of Trumps proposed policies (tariffs anyone?) Probably admires Trumps "business acumen", too, meaning he is okay with cheating and doesn't care who gets hurt as long as he gets his.

Not someone to admire. That's who Trump voters are...not people to admire. Ignorance, selfishness, and unfeeling./uncaring/cold-hearted. But hey they make lots of money. FFS.

Trump was at least talking about the economy while Harris was talking about DEI, social justice, trans rights, affirmative action, shit like that.

No, she wasn’t. You are parroting RWNJ talking points.

Trump was lying about the economy. Harris presented solutions.

Yes solutions for trans prison inmates.

And everyone is lying about the economy.

You have never been around Hispanic men or women if you think the old stereotype of a woman being submissive to a man still holds. During the pandemic a lot shifted when the jobs Hispanic held were shut down and women in fields of daycare, cleaning, and other service providers became the top earners. Hispanic men respect women just fine. That's why they saw how lackluster Kamala Harris is and why they did not vote for her.

I never said hispanic women were submissive. I said hispanic men won't vote for a woman. See how those are different points?

If this were true, there would be no female presidents in Mexico, Central or South America.

Maybe they send all the misogynists up here?

OMG was trump right about who we were getting?

For a while it seemed like Gen Z was going to be very social justice oriented and progressive. And I do think there’s a little microgeneration of of that. But I think the youngest Gen Z’ers will be more to the right due to certain online messaging being targeted at them and just generally wanting the perceived stability that comes with a more so-called traditional lifestyle. It will be more pronounced among young men, but I think we will see it in women too.

+1
my 13 yo told me last year ago that "pronouns are gone" and that kids are not woke. they use racial stereotypes freely. boys in particular, but also some girls.

I don’t hear much about the racial stereotypes, but I live in a very diverse area so it would probably be less common. Agreed that pronouns are not popular with this age any more.

PP here - we are at a very diverse school. boys are extremely straightforward with all sorts of stereotypes (racial, ethnic, gender). wokeness is associated with schoolmarms, teachers and other lame adults. not cool.

I have a hard time believing the stereotyping part is true. Do you hear the boys saying this? I don’t think my 12 year old would dare to in my presence. That seems different to me from being fed up with DEI/SEL/woke-speak.

That said I do hope we’re past the brutal cancellations that happened in 2020. Like the Walls kids who got in trouble for playing Cotton Eyed Joe or the teacher with the cotton ball game.

It’s now socially acceptable for boys of any race to use the n word.

This is definitely not true.
My kid is a b boy with a lot of black friends and he seems to use the word muthafukka where you might imagine a black kid would use the word nig-a.
I think it's still fighting words.
White kids might use it in the presence of exclusively white kids but but that's always been true. They won't say it in a group of black kids.

He will easily take over the Trump mantle without the baggage. He holds the base together with even more appeal to centrists who are "embarrassed" by Trump.

Right now the left has no strong contenders. Mayor Petes not it, Bashear is not very impressive in actuality, and Shapiro is dull(not to mention a zionist in the party of anti-semitism). The establishment will probably choose Newsom and we all know they control the
candidate choice.

Newsom 🤮

If the Dem elites choose Newsom, then they deserve to lose for the next several decades.

lol this is how I feel.

Does anyone think that the Dems are crippled by Obama’s popularity? They believe there is some formula to create an Obama. When really he was a phenomenon of his moment.

Obama is also less popular now than he was eight years ago. He just doesnt realize it. The party definitely needs to go away from all things Obama. The country wants to move on. All the O's complain about is how bad the country is and how racist everyone is as if Obama did not handily beat two white men before 11pm during a great recession which really was a depression. The DNC needs to dump Obama like old news, just like they did with Hillary.

It says something about the DNC's failures if sixteen years later, the biggest draw to a presidential rally is still Obama. Why didnt Clinton, Biden, or Kamala have the juice or the ability to speak frankly with reporters and during interviews without having to take three days off to prepare for a 10 minute TV interview?

I wonder if they’ve paralyzed themselves with cancel culture. You have to prepare 3 days to make sure you don’t say the wrong thing that will end up on TikTok Tok.

Agree that it’s weird that the Democratic establishment cannot find someone naturally talented like Obama again. Obama wasn’t even the best speaker (he sounds nerdy) but there’s nothing offputting about him and he exudes confidence and capability.

Osama Bin Laden is dead, GM is alive.

It also says something when Oprah Winfrey, Lizzo, Beyonce and Al Sharpton were paid significant sums to appear on behalf of Harris and do not draw the expected crowds. The Dems still don't understand that they no longer have to pander to black voters. It is the Hispanic voters who are needed and who often preferred Trump. Vaya con Dios, Senor Obama.

I’m not sure black voters WANT to be pandered to by big spends on Oprah appearances. What this represents is Democratic consultants using blackness to brand the party as Cool.

Blacks are not the monolith they once were.

Black campaign consultants do not understand the 20% of black men that don't like playing the race card.
