DOD school was abysmal in our family's experience. Rubberstamping, knowing children would be moving on soon to the next assignment. Zero accountability or standards.

Yep. It's very clear that Democrats have nothing but disdain for the mere 25 percent of young Americans that are even eligible to serve. What you read here is very typical for how Democrats think about the blue collar and those who choose to serve.

It's not an either/or situation. The national security budget is more than a trillion per year.

But DoD, Congress, and the White House do need to undertake a serious overhaul of compensation and benefits for soldiers - to attract quality enlisted personnel, to retain good officers, and so on and so forth. Everyone worth keeping has options.

I’m sure DoD could find the money to pay the salary increase. But regardless of whether it actually is an either/or situation to the average American it will look like we have billions to send to other countries, pay for migrant housing, etc. but not give raises to troops. It is a terrible look for the Biden administration. If there's billions to house illegal migrants in luxury hotels in Manhattan, it should be possible for service members to afford rent on a modest apartment near their duty stations.

And his budgets were extremely tight because of the lack of tax revenues and the GOP holding the budget hostage with sequestration. So sure, let's give em a pay raise but not increase their budget. That means the funds for the raise have to come from somewhere, idiot.

You are ridiculous and have no idea what you are talking about. I am married to a retired ENLISTED airman. It is a big part of our lives. The truth is that both parties talk and neither of them serve veterans in the ways that they should. Both parties prioritize tax cuts, international aid, SS, medicare, etc.

The Dem party does not hate enlisted troops any more than Rs do.

There is absolutely no disdain. Is there a retired enlisted person in your house?
