WHO? New Democratic Nominee Thread

Joe isn’t leaving, nobody is taking his job.
Why can’t you understand that? The same way people denied he was deteriorating, they are denying his solid determination to stay in the race.

+1. And the solid determination of the Obama team to keep him in place.

Fellow dem here: Kamala Harris will never be the nominee much less President. She is not compelling, charismatic, a good communicator or any other thing you need to be President. Also, she never was.

She could be president next week for all we know.

Okay, I should have said: Kamala Harris will never be elected President.

And she won't.

She'd still be ten times the President Trump ever was. I would vote for her but most people wouldn't.

Everything and everyone is relative to Trump and Biden when considering POTUS options at this point. Relative to those two clowns, Harris is superstar. Open your eyes and ears.

Biden just made it that much more difficult for him to win reelection. Last night was abysmal.

Trump was bad on delivery and substance, as he always is. But this is the first time the public saw how doddering Biden is. Previously it was small stumbles and mix-ups. This was a prolonged state of confusion.

We really another Democratic candidate.

Put pressure on the White House. It will reinvigorate the campaign and motivate people to turn out.

Because right now, plenty of dejected Democrats and Independents are going to stay home on Election Day.

Your last line is BS regardless. No way people all the Dems and Independents who know what a complete train wreck Trump would be would just not vote. No F in way.

If Democrats actually want to win, it'd be Gretchen Whitmer or Andy Beshear.

Forget about Gavin Newsom. His ex-wife is married to Don Trump Jr. for goodness sake. There is so much trash. And you are not going to beat Donald Trump Sr. in a family trash-fest.

Bingo! Newsom would likely beat Trump simply due to Trump's obvious weaknesses but why risk running a somewhat divisive politician from a non-swing state when you have solid mid-western governors that would allow for an easy victory and would be solid options to competently lead the country.

Michelle never liked Biden and Obama wasn't too hot on his VP running for President in the first place.

So gets your facts straight.

You don't understand that very few people care as much as you and I do. Get out of your bubble. Most Americans don't very much care who is the next President. There are plenty of Democrats (and Republicans) who will stay home on Election Day because the candidates aren't inspiring enough, and they have better things to do on that day.
But this hurts Dems more than repubs because Biden did an objectively worse job during the debate, and his weakness is now being traumpeted by the media across the entire world. And people will not hustle for a weak leader.

This is why it's so important that Biden is persuaded to step aside.

Both polarizing figures.

No.

Buttigieg
Pro: great speaker and debater. Intelligent, practical, knowledgeable on domestic policies.
Con: white male with no particular support from Black and Hispanic communities.

Whitmer
Pro: woman, experience leading a State
Con: white woman, same as above

I can see a Kamala Harris / Gretchen Whitmer ticket.

The Gavin is too Californian, bless him.

Are you kidding? America is not electing a gay man or a woman, now matter how much I would personally love that.

Honestly, I don't think a gay man would win running as a Democrat. I think it is actually possible for a gay man to win as a Republican though. Republicans don't really care as long as they are part of their team. Religious conservatives overwhelmingly vote for Trump despite the has been divorced and cheated on his multiple times. I think it's more likely that the first gay president and woman president are Republican.

Nonsense. Why is Tim Scott desperately trying to convince us that beard is a genuine relationship at almost 60 years old? Please.

Religious conservatives voted for Trump because they wanted the SCOTUS majority so they could overturn Roe and other rulings. They want him again to see if they can get abortion banned nationwide. They have never cared that he is a rapist with the morals of an alley cat.

I agree with this, with one caveat: If national polls show a consistent double-digit lead for Trump post-debate, the calls for Biden to step down prior to the convention will become deafening. If Biden agreed to this, he would endorse Kamala Harris and the party would rally behind her because what choice would they have? She’s the sitting Vice-President and bypassing her for a white male or white female would obliterate the Democratic coalition. It would be a complete sh*tshow.

If Harris became the nominee at the convention, she would likely choose a well-known, probably white male VP. Well-known because there wouldn’t be time for a proper vetting. Maybe someone like Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut.

He is 73 yo. It's obvious you are not around GenZ on a daily basis.

I am honestly shocked how many older GenX and young Boomers have their head in the sand. The old-line Dems are sinking the ship and the captain has no idea.

I will confess I find the idea of a second American Camelot (which this would be) positively thrilling. though I do believe it would appear to generation z, as well.

You think Schumer would be a second Camelot???? Please tell me no. Kennedy was 43 and had a glamorous wife and lifestyle.
Lol. Exactly.

Chuck Schumer is married to Iris Weinshall, the COO for the New York Public Library. They are 100% a power couple. I'm sorry if they're not young and fit enough for you, but for the rest of us here in the real world, they're positively invigorating. And if people think he's too "old," well, Hakeem Jeffries would be on the ticket, as well.

You didn't understand the assignment. PPs refered to America having a second Camelot. The Kennedys were seen as American "royalty" because they were beautiful, young and rich.

The Schumers are rich.

And it would be a Reagan-like landslide for Trump if Democrats went with Kamala Harris. And they'd lose the Senate and the House would remain Republican.

So, you know, there's also that to consider.
