He is 73 yo. It's obvious you are not around GenZ on a daily basis.

I am honestly shocked how many older GenX and young Boomers have their head in the sand. The old-line Dems are sinking the ship and the captain has no idea.

I will confess I find the idea of a second American Camelot (which this would be) positively thrilling. though I do believe it would appear to generation z, as well.

You think Schumer would be a second Camelot???? Please tell me no. Kennedy was 43 and had a glamorous wife and lifestyle.
Lol. Exactly.

Chuck Schumer is married to Iris Weinshall, the COO for the New York Public Library. They are 100% a power couple. I'm sorry if they're not young and fit enough for you, but for the rest of us here in the real world, they're positively invigorating. And if people think he's too "old," well, Hakeem Jeffries would be on the ticket, as well.

Hahaha - good one

This is sarcasm, right? I mean, when Chuck peers over the top of his reading glasses he looks like Roz from Monsters, Inc. The last thing I think is "invigorating."

OMGstop about Schumer. I like him but no. Can you imagine how annoying Amy Schumer would become?

I could see a Gretchen Whitmer/Andy Beshear or JB Pritzker doing well-ish enough in polling.

I think, for better or worse, Kamala Harris and Gavin Newsom are way too polarizing. (Newsom has some serious skeletons too)

Pete Buttigieg is just unlikely to get nominated as a gay man, at this point. Hopefully that will change soon. But I could see a lesbian getting elected before a gay man.

And Gina Raimondo, Michael Bennet, Josh Shapiro, and Raphael Warnock don’t yet have national name recognition. And Wes Moore just got elected.

Americans would be breaking down the doors to the polling stations to get inside and vote for Chuck and Iris, NYC power couple, to win the WH.

There is nothing, nothing, that American voters admire more than NYC power couples.

Let's get a governor, not a legislator.

We need people that run things.

Both polarizing figures.

No.

Buttigieg
Pro: great speaker and debater. Intelligent, practical, knowledgeable on domestic policies.
Con: white male with no particular support from Black and Hispanic communities.

Whitmer
Pro: woman, experience leading a State
Con: white woman, same as above

I can see a Kamala Harris / Gretchen Whitmer ticket.

The Gavin is too Californian, bless him.

Who cares if they are white. We need to win. Identity politics is clearly not working for us

Identity politics works every time sadly. Biden was not playing identity politics in his reelection campaign. He was trying to tout his record. People haven't heard him. The record is always boring, even if it's good.

So now we need a drastic change and fight fire with fire. Kamala would do a great job attacking Trump. She's a former prosecutor. This is what people want to see. Someone coherently saying out loud from a media-blitzed pulpit how Trump is incoherent and rambling. Obviously it needs to be said by someone who isn't worse than Trump at the rambling!

Harris would be a no-brainer obvious better choice than Trump or Biden. This isn't rocket science. Her gender or race is irrelevant. Look for a fit and qualified in a candidate to support. The color of their skin and what's between their legs shouldn't be considerations in the 21st century. Get over it.

Kamala Harris was the dead last candidate in the democratic primaries in 2020 for a reason. She slept her way to the top in California where no one seriously challenged her due to her identity background. Her record as VP is abysmal to laughable. Her polling is so far below Biden's own polls that it makes you pause. People are not stupid. They know exactly who she is.

I am absolutely astounded that anyone actually thinks Kamala Harris would win the presidency??? Are these people delusional?? She is AWFUL.

I would love to see a Butti, Kamala ticket. Lots of independents could get comfortable with that, Butti is young, smart, energetic. The country is ready for first openly gay president.

I think the winning solution is to come out with a whole slate/ cabinet. Announce early who would be the picks for various areas. A pro-business person, someone who can reassure the voters about immigration, the tough-on-crime LE from Florida, etc. Nail all the talking points that the Republicans hammer and do t try to have all the answers in one person.

And for all that is holy, don’t put Newsom or Harris in the top seat. Put a governor who can win swing state/ middle America votes.

All of this would be fine a fine proposal. Then you had to toss in the last sentence. That’s the part you’ll never get. And that’s why whomever replaces Biden is going to lose anyways.

She may be awful in your opinion but compared to Trump and Biden she smells like a rose. Give me a reason why Trump and Biden are anywhere close to the best we have to offer for the POTUS position. Just one reason. haha. crickets

WOW. You were serious. Maybe try hanging out with college students/recent grads or read anything about the Kennedy years. I’m GenX and do not find that invigorating. I’ve talked to 3 70yo women since last night and all 3 think Biden should step down. None would be enthusiastic about a 70+yo. Know when to pass the baton to win the race.

Anonymous wrote:"This deserves its own thread." No it doesn't. Pointless thread as its too late to change the ballot in many states.

Not at all. Only Ohio is problematic because of its early ballot law - first week of August.

Historically, the US has had open Conventions.

Biden can transfer his funds to a super PAC to the benefit of the new nominee.

It CAN be done. And it should be done.

What in his career suggests he would transfer his funds to anything other than family?
He will play ball if he gets a big payday.

More projections from the Trumpers. Just because Trump is a corrupt grifter who enriches family and doesn't care about the nation doesn't mean that Joe Biden is.
