They typically have a slate of four candidates. I doubt they even know who should get the job or they wouldn't have extended the deadline.

She’s from Florida. Good to see that someone from outside MCPS is coming in.

Wonder what happened with the acting principal there?

Typically the new principal doesn't start until July 1st.

4 candidates for which positions? David Adams told us he presents 2 candidates to the Superintendent to make her final decision.

The question was why the acting wasn’t named principal of Rock View, like the other actings were selected for their schools.

They don't always hire the acting. And/or she may have applied for a different position

The position at Carderock is still posted. Will the AP apply and get it?

Chevy Chase is now posted too. How about that AP for the principal role?

I think the assistant principal at CCES is entering a principal internship position. I’m nervous about losing our principal and AP at the same time, but we have a great group of teachers. I’m hopeful that everyone will stay and the kids won’t experience too much change.

What about the former CCES AP who has completed the principal internship program now, Raj Gupta? Parents at least seemed to really like him.

Let’s see if there will be a new assistant principal.

Meanwhile some schools are getting an additional AP, even when they already have one per grade level and their population isn’t changing. I don’t understand how they allocate resources. Why give a school an extra AP next year when schools don’t have enough of so many other positions and class sizes are so big.

AP staffing guidelines for HS:

Assistant principal positions are allocated to schools based on projected enrollment as follows:
≥ 3,000 = 6.0 FTE
2,550-2,999 = 5.0 FTE
2,130-2,549 = 4.0 FTE
1,600-2,129 = 3.0 FTE
< 1,600 = 2.0 FTE

Well I know of at least one middle school getting a fourth AP despite not having the numbers to support it. Why?

AP staffing guidelines for MS:

Assistant principal positions are allocated to schools based on projected enrollment as follows:
≥ 1,200 = 3.0 FTE
650-1,199 = 2.0 FTE
< 650 = 1.0 FTE
If a school has a coordinator, subtract 1.0 FTE from this allocation.
