Maybe smaller Jesuit or Holy Cross schools with the idea of easier transfer as a sophomore/junior?
Jesuit - Fairfield, Fordham, Creighton, Loyola MD or Chicago Holy Cross - Portland, Stonehill, St. Edward’s, Kings |
Did not get into Georgetown or Notre Dame. Now what ?
Switch religions ? |
This is actually a really good point. There is an association of Jesuit colleges that seems to be active. The curriculum at Georgetown will have commonalities with the other 28 Jesuit schools in the US, and with hundreds worldwide. Going to another Jesuit school would also be a bonus if your son decides to try and transfer to GU. |
Duke, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Boston College, Villanova, Holy Cross, U Virginia, WashUStL, Wake Forest University, Tufts, SMU.
Several LACs offer ED 2. Davidson College in North Carolina. OP: It's difficult to refocus after having one's heart set on two outstanding schools, but disappointment is a part of life that often leads one to a better place. |
Don't make TO the boogeyman. Standardized testing isn’t all what it's purported to be. Only 40% or so are even submitting tests. And the ones claiming 1500+ scores? They are still getting rejected at top colleges. It's a lottery. Deal with it. |
Fordham is a good bet, OP. |
Forget Georgetown. Apply to St Mary’s across the street from Notre Dame. Do well and transfer to ND. |
Largely agree save Duke, Northwestern. Why? |
Villanova is not a safety. They have a 20% acceptance rate. |
What is wrong with people on here? Why do you feel the need to tear down this other kid? It's unkind and unnecessary. And not terribly consistent with Catholic values. |
True. St. Joe’s would be a safety for someone who thinks they want Villanova. |
But that guaranteed transfer program - the Gateway Program - is offered only to ND applicants. An applicant cannot apply to Holy Cross for the Gateway Program. https://admissions.nd.edu/gateway-program/overview/ |
Just move on |
Those aren't very Catholic... |
Georgetown is also no longer Catholic for the most part. |
