Did not get into Georgetown or Notre Dame. Now what?

My kid is crushed. Trying to regroup. Ideas. Thoughts.

ED2 to BC or Villanova?

BC or Villanova for ED2. Providence, Fairfield, Holy Cross for target/safeties. Plus GW and/or AU if the kid is interested in politics/DC location.

Well, where did they get in? Surely they didn't only apply to two schools right?

Mean thus in a helpful way, your child needs to aim lower.

Right? This seems obvious.

But also....make sure they have cast a wide net for RD - and be SURE they find safeties they would genuinely be happy to attend.

I’m so sorry! My son is away on a sport thing so hasn’t checked portal. My husband who is with him suggested he wait until he gets home later this weekend so he doesn’t play like crap. Ugh. I saw the acceptance rate …

Good luck to your son !

I'm so sorry! I hope your DC will be OK. Sending virtual encouragement. Really, once these schools have filled up slots with athletes, legacies, and children of donors, who they pick is very random, so they often overlook some truly amazing kids.

The other Catholic universities being recommended here sound like good choices. Santa Clara University, Creighton, the University of Portland (beautiful campus!), Gonzaga, and St. Louis might also be worth a look. I know some kids who went to Santa Clara and U of Portland, and they loved those schools. SCU is ranked as "one of the most ridiculously underrated schools in the nation" and is earning more recognition by the year.

Wait?! What. You can’t ED to Notre Dame and EA Georgetown. Maybe that’s why u got rejected.

OP - you need to be more clear. Do you want suggestions for only Catholic institutions?

Kings College in Wilkes Barre - 5 year engineering program to Notre Dame. Also have business degree with Washington University in St Louis. You come out with degrees from both. (School founded by priests from Notre Dame so super close)
