Did not get into Georgetown or Notre Dame. Now what?

Jesuit - Fairfield, Fordham, Creighton, Loyola MD or Chicago
Holy Cross - Portland, Stonehill, St. Edward’s, Kings

Some of you are literally nuts. Why would a student with the qualifications to apply to ND and GU apply to Stonehill??!!! Literally 50 other schools they would apply to first.

+1

And drop all the Jesuit school ideas. Kids like Notre Dame for school spirit, campus, sports, quality of education, programs, and alumni network.

So other schools that offer an attractive residential experience, sports, and top academic programs are probably the best bet.

Ummm…the kids I know who go to Notre Dame are very devout Catholics, rather conservative, and definitely anti-abortion. If they did not get accepted by Notre Dame, they would look at other Catholic universities and colleges.

The kids I know are on the opposite end of that spectrum. These schools have a whole range of students. Knock it off with the stereotyping.

Well, pp, that’s good to hear.

I'd consider Villanova next. My guess is if they can't get into Notre Dame or GU, BC is probably also not going to happen.

I’m sorry, pp, it is brutal out there.

This is very true. And Villanova acceptances are all over the map, at least if you are coming from a Catholic HS. You’ll need a safety for Villi, and I think the most popular one is St. Joe’s. Lots of Villanova alumni and parents of Villanova students also have kids at St. Joe’s.

Apply ED2 to Villanova and perhaps William & Mary. BC is probably out but might be worth it

Plenty of excellent Jesuit colleges in Europe, including in English.

(Plus over there most admissions have not even started. Look into top programs in Italy, Austria, Ireland, Spain)

My child is at Holy Cross and I've been very impressed with their classes and the kids there. It seems like a bit of a sleeper from this area so fewer DMV candidates to compete with. It's easy to get to Boston on the commuter train and they've also road tripped down to Providence when they wanted to get out of Worcester.

There is still a chance. At the end of the day, it doesn't matter where you go as long as it's one of T20 schools.

Go away.

Holy cross won’t be a sleeper school in this area for too long

Nice job being ahead of curve

A good friend’s daughter did not get in her dream school. She went to another school and the family hired a college counselor and she got in the following year and is really happy.
